I've been a fan of intellectual, dead-pan comedian Jimmy Carr for quite some time now. My first memory of him was presenting Channel 4's Your Face Or Mine, and since then I've seen him on a number of different late-night, off-the-wall type shows and thought him to be very funny, with his wonderfully dry sense of humour.

 

It's been bugging me for months who he reminded me of, but then, when reading through the local school's football results in the Review on Saturday morning, it hit me right between the eyes.

 

I reckon Jimmy Carr must have seen cable TV's West Herts Telecential Sports Round-up from 1996, as presented by our very own Colin Thorns.

 

Their slick sense of style, humour and comic timing is identical.

 

I wonder if anyone else has noticed these similarities?
