Woody SUFC
http://www.thisissouthampton.co.uk/hampshire/southampton/sport/SOTON_SPORT_FOOTBALL1.html Seems like all is left to do is sign on the dotted line... Talk on the sailsbury forum seems to think he's being paid £750 per week if he goes
Matt
Not sure about the 'profit' bit KoC, after all we hear they're offering Alex a 'silly-money' contract.
BFR
Quote: "He's a good person to have on the left if Christer Warren or Ryan Ashford is injured, but he can also play through the middle or wide right if needs be." By this then do I presume that Al is going to Eastleigh to be the third choice left sided player? Going on this article it looks pretty much we've seen the last of the mullet playing for Slough. Matt
Also Quote: "With no disrespect to Salisbury, it was between us and Hayes because he's looking to go up in level. Staying at Slough was his third option because he's enjoyed it there" Hayes?? When did they become involved? It's all very past tense so I think he's going/gone. If you read this Al, change your mind please !! BFR
He's not gone until he has signed for them, but with that expect to happen tonight I'm sure we'll know for sure very soon. Mind you, with the money being reported to be offered to him I don't think we stood much chance of keeping him.
Radders
If Alex does leave (and despite all the talk I hope that something changes and he stays) we are going to have problems on the left for the remainder of the season. With Steer injured the loss of Gyoury and Moller now looks a major problem as one of them could have come in at centre back with Smurf1 going to left wing back. Could we see Hodgy be pushed back into defence for a longer period of time? I really hope not!!!!!
Matt
I personally would like to think he'd stay at least until we're out of the Trophy, but it looks unlikely unfortunately.
BFR
We could of course revert to 4-4-2 with Smurf 1 as left back and play Harris on the left where he played quite effectively when required last season.
GarySTFC
Spoke with Roy briefly this morning and Alex was still making his mind up. It is a very, very good financial offer on the table from Eastleigh at the moment, so it's between us and them. Should know some more this afternoon hopefully, although that's dependant on what happens with either the player or the club.
Burnham Lad
ALEX - DON'T DO IT - IF WHAT THEIR MANAGER SAYS IS TRUE - THEY ONLY WANT YOU AS A THIRD CHOICE FOR LEFT HAND SIDE - WHAT FUTURE IS THERE IN THAT? THEY ARE IN NO CUPS - AND GOING UP IS ONLY A GAMBLE FOR THEM. YOU ARE BETTER THAN THAT......
Don Juan DeMarcus
"He's a good person to have on the left if Christer Warren or Ryan Ashford is injured, but he can also play through the middle or wide right if needs be." 3rd choice Al? You are better than that! Don't sign for that [censored], continue with us play in the trophy final, and then go to some league club (Where you deserve to be!) charlie
Absolutely gutted to read that link... really hope that either a)he doesn't sign for a lot of money but a long spell on the bench or that the article was somehow misinterpreted and he will actually make the first team with them... he deserves better than that
A Rebel and a Saint
Please Alex don't do it, swapping first choice winger for third choice is not worth it, no matter how much money they offer! you deserve better than that, you area quality winger, and deserve the first choice at any club. please stay with us until the end of the season dont leave us hanging with such potential! Guest
Hayes!!! Blooming Hayes. I'd hope we'd never lose out on a player to them! I know they are in a higher league than us, but come on? No offence but Mark Bartley, Marvin Bartley and Adie Browne have been getting in their side lately and two of them were released by us - and they get lower attendances than us!! If Al goes there I won't be happy!
Guest
and Alex can play 'wide right'? Never seen him use his right foot!!
Guest
Salisbury recently signed a player that Eastleigh were after - he was (is)a wide left player, and was "not guaranteed a first team place." Think you know why! The player concerned turned down Eastleigh after coming to Salisbury to have a look, saying "It seemed right at Salisbury"! Guest
If they are spending the sort of money which has been mentioned then he'll not be used as a squad player, of that you can be certain.
A Rebel and a Saint
youve got to be pretty stupid to offer large amounts of money for a player and then not play him!

BFR
Park Ender, you may well be right, but going on what Eastleigh's manager said about Christer Warren and the other guy you have to wonder who will play and who will be left out. I can't imagine that Warren or any other of the former Saints are playing for them on the cheap so that could problem. As Chris points out, Al using his right foot doesn't happen and I'm not sure its beneficial to pay that sort of money for a square peg in a round hole.
