sorry again for having so much money!

Thanks for coming on here to gloat, but having money isn't necessarily the recipe for success - look at any number of sides who were boasting about how rich they were like Cheshunt, who have fallen flat on their faces.

Just remind me, how many cups are you still in? Alex could still have a chance to showcase his talents to much better teams than you, and he ain't signed yet........ We still think he's worth better than you. Interesting to see what happens if he gets an offer from a Conference side........ Eastleigh? Who are they...?

Echo Andrew's comments. If Alex does join Eastleigh then there are very few Slough fans who would begrudge him if that's what he wants. Alex has been a great player for us over the last 18 months and that will never be forgotten. However, its not always the best way to go about things to come and gloat when nothing is confirmed.

You may have pots of money...but when the dream is broken and the money runs out, and your left in a bankrupt state, and winchester take all your fans............The whole league will laugh. Enjoy it while it lasts Eastleigh Boy.

we will do and that last message wasnt gloating at all why would i gloat at a non-league level?

Well Anon, we're fed up with anonymous posters coming on our Forum and taking the p*ss because we have problems with our ground and we don't have a ton of money. First we had some twit from Cheshunt on claiming we ought not to be allowed to play in the FA Cup because of it. He went on to say how they would thrash us in the Cup, and that they had loads of money....well 4-0 to us against them was a good answer. We beat them again in the Bryco Cup and then again in the league around which time the wheels fell off their boasted money man's lorry and the team fell apart.

Then we had Salisbury's Manager saying how well they expected to do against Slough who were in his view, to quote "one of the weakest teams in the division". Look where they are in the league now!
They've played us four times so far this season and lost 3 and drawn one at home. So they start trying to pinch one of our star players, with the same loadsamoney attitudes.

Then we have you coming on trying to buy him off and boasting about how much money you have backing you, so you can do it. Well, 4-0 to you too! So don't expect any sympathy here - we can see that you aren't sorry. Let's face it, you do need something to bolster what's left of your season. We have got things to play for this season (FA Trophy, League Cup and still in with a chance of a play-off position) and we really need him and want him to stay.

We also believe that if he moves he can do a lot better than your team. Sometimes career opportunities are more important than mere cash. Too many people get into a trap from chasing the money, only to find it is a dead end like Eastleigh but they can't afford to get out.

Tell 'em where to stick their offers, Alex! Stay where you are wanted and can make a difference and where there are still things to play for!

to be honest mate if we had loadsa money we arent we top?

Basically, you could have all the money in the world and buy the so called best players but that doesn't make the best team.

It has been seen so many times at this level where clubs spend out all their money on 'big named' players but rarly do well.

There is a lot to be said for using local cheap players who care moe about playing for their club than their wallets.

BFR we tend to get big named local players <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> A mix of the two

Look at Chelsea. Spent loads of money and yet cannot score against Man City

We are one of those who have got in some 'big names' from the non-league scene but as I said, you can have all the big names you like doesn't mean you will win every week.

especially at this level, even the best players money can buy(which is not always a lot) can perform inconsistantly through the season, its a common problem that every team faces, even the Rebels have had bad patches, and salisbury have been worse.

if alex was to go i would hope it would be upwards, he deserves it he is a hell of a footballer. if he did that i would have few problems with it, but to move down just for the money would be wrong.

eastleigh may be in with a chance of promotion via playoffs but it is not guarunteed that it will happen. he could end up in the same league as he is now, which would not be good for him. he needs to attract the attention of a higher leage club, not a ryman league club!

please stay alex we know you can do better than the teams who want you!
