Purfleet 3 Fleet 1

 

Andy Ford paraded two new trialists at Ship Lane on Thursday but neither could prevent Northfleet from going down 3-1 to their Ryman League hosts.

 

Central defender Sam Sodje from Stevenage was joined by Queens Park Rangers striker Richard Pacquette. The Fleet took the lead through a brilliant strike by Che Stadhart in the 22nd minuten when he latched on to a superb clearance from Mark Bentley.

 

Former Canvey Island striker Wayne Vaughan equalised in the 42nd minute and Purfleet went ahead after 66 minutes when central defender Jimmy McFarlane strolled tbhrough a static defence to head home unchallenged from a free kick.

 

Paul Linger completed the win for Purfleet when he slotted home an 86th minute penalty after Aaaron Barnett had been judged to have handled the ball.

 

Gravesend and Northfleet: Wilkerson, Smith, Lee, Sodje, Wilkins(Barnett, 54 minutes), McKimm (Owen, 65 minutes), Berkley (Kwashi, 58minutes),Bentley, Pacquette (Booth,65 minutes), Stadhart (Hatch,58 minutes), Jackson.

I don't know if you were there Dave or if your'e writing from reports, but as for previous games don't read too much into the result. Gravesend, even this severely depleted Gravesend were more than holding their own against a very lively Purfleet until the formation was altered with substitutions, even their 1st half equaliser was definitely against the run of play. However in the 2nd period they did seem to adapt better to the alterations, and on the night were worthy of the win. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif" alt="" />
