Memories of Lee

Recommended Posts

My favourite memory of Lee Harding was at the beginning of the 2001/02 season, when me and a couple of the Firm were chatting to him, telling him about the Sunday League side we were forming, and told him we were going to play under the name of "EFM".

In true Harding style, he folded his arms, leant back, and with a knowing smile, said "that is going to upset a few people".

Maybe you had to be there.

What are other reader's fond memories of Lee??

One of my memories of the big man was after the Boston Trophy quarter-final match. You remember the one - fifteen hundred morons behind the Hatfield Road goal kicking the crap out of our new fence watching Tom Meredith score that 89th minute winner.

Anyway - before the match that nice Boston chairman was really condescending to Harding and was very confident that they were going to Wembley. He came out with loads of crap about our stand not being safe, our lack of support, 'tin-pot' ground, poor parking, etc., and I remember him saying to Harding: "At least you'll get a share of a nice big gate."

After the game, Harding just smiled at his Boston counterpart and shook his hand.
