Kinnear keen to take Fleet reins

Thing is, it would be a foolhardy decision to wait on CK in case the council decision goes against Margate, because supposing it doesn't, that's a few weeks wasted.

If this is the gameplan, hopefully there'll be a concrete Plan B in place before Plan A (Kinnear) is decided as the course to follow.

All hypothetical, of course...

I think the timing of Fleets appointment is significant - not naming the new manager until AFTER TDC have given Margit the yea or nay.

If CK is the preferred option, there would be less/no bed feelings between the 2 sides if he left to join us is Margit were consigned to the Kent League, as presumably he would probably not wish to continue managing at that level, but sees himself as a Conference standard manager.

If Margit DO survive, CK will probably stay there, as he would have every reason to stay , new ground, new team etc, and we would have to appoint another candidate.

I know I'm a lone voice but I don't think that Kinnear is the man to take us forward. If we are happy to be a lower half conference team then fine he's the man, but if we want to move on to the league, then I'm sorry, but I don't think he can do it.

And before you ask, no I don't know who should get the job, I don't know who has applied.

I don't honestly see how it could be done any quicker unless it was determined before Andy had left. We have had a number of applications, so we have to get it down to a shortlist and then interview the candidates. We will have down well to get it sorted in anything less than a week.

You are not alone, Dave. I also think that Garry Hill is not the man for us either.
I have voiced by reasons before on other threads, so I won't bore people again.

This may sound negative, but as I've said before it's going to take a very special manager to get us into the league with the limited resources currently available.

This is of course a very good point. Since no-one knows that Kinnear has even applied, all of this speculation is pretty futile. We'll all just have to sit tight.

I bet he was sitting on the doorstep at Fleet last Weds AM with his CV in his hand. The man is gaggin to get the job, that much is obvious...!!

Just when I was coming round to his point of view. He said the other day he wanted to achieve entry in to the league with a part time club.

So he sees were part time and that it is a hindrence to us but uses it to his advantage in a way. Just like saying you in this position deal with it.

Were all bored and fed up with being part time but at the moment we just have to deal with it until an alternitive option presents itself.

Well, it seems that speculation is mounting!!!! How about trying to persuade Jeff King to move all his dodgy money over here!!! Not a good idea I know. Think we need someone with experience and vision, do those two go together. Shame the board lost confidence in Andy Ford as I still feel it would have been better for him to see the season out. Whoever it is, we need someone in place sooner rather than later!!!

If we try going full time without the finances to support it then the club would be in serious danger.
If we manage to finance a switch to full time playing staff, and at the moment that doesn't look likely, there is no guarantee of success.
Last season Burton were, like us, one of the top part time teams in the country this season they are one of the worst full time teams in the country and they have lost 550 fans off their average attendance.

I haven't a clue who will be appointed as the new manager but I hope its someone in the Andy Ford mould who would look for steady progression rather than gamble with the clubs future.
