As im about the nearest to the ground just a short hop under the tunnel heres a swift report. Tremendous support from gate fans lots of noise from the fans and chanting and singing. About 70 gate fans which was more than they had i should think. First 20 under the cosh a bit but battled through on a glue pot of a pitch. Came into the game and their sub goalie made some sharp saves. nils at the break. Second half fairly even but with them pushing up gave us more opportunity. Then with less than 20 went 1-0 down loopy cross up and over header sort of goal that goes in one in fifty times. Boy did we battle after that. Ref started to loose the plot a bit but evened up the free kicks and we put them under constant preassure. Clarkey scored with an opportunist goal when the ball arrived at his feet. The goalie perhaps made a bit of a dogs dinner out of it. More pressure led a scrambling back header from Chay that crossed the line by a couple of feet and the ref did not do a Man u on us and gave it. Our support took off. Hun on a bit after that with a bit of luck when they hit the bar. mag perforance today outstanding hard to describe against a well organised side. Well done the supporters too tremendous appreciation of the players and well received by them <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/roflmao.gif" alt="" />.

Deserved the win. Had the edge throughout and it would have been a travesty had we not replied to their goal. Deep cross met at far post, looped over Trego who seemed a bit lost.

1-1 shortly after, good play down right ended with Clarke drilling home from 10 yards. Che got winner from a corner within a couple of minutes. About 60 Gate fans, barely 100 of theirs.

We do seem vulnerable to those far post headers.

Not enough height in defence, and whilst i rate Trego, we does occasionally suffer from his lack of height.

In a similat vein, regretably not seen Gate play for a month now, but do i get impression that Edwards is playing better.

Would be first to admit that on early season form i thought he was poor, but would be delighted to hear that he is getting back to his best form

The last three matches Bill has come out and played magnificently. JK was a towering presence at the back. Alexis had a very good game, but all in all they all played very well. Our football outdid Thurrocks bullying in the end, they are not a very sporting lot and very physical. Rocky's workrate was extremely good, and he was a contributory factor in the goals. Moses came very close and was always a danger. Nice to see Che find the net. Ross was very strong as ever. Greg was particularly dangerous on the wing, he is back to classic Greg again. Although I could not understand what the ref's problem was as he kept saying foul throw when Greg took throw ins. PB did some very nifty stuff and worked very well with Clarkey today, who played a blinder too, and took a lovely opportunistic goal with that sweet left foot of his. I don't know quite what happened with their goal, it was one of those loping things that seem to find the net almost in slow motion, apart from that Trego looks very assured. For some reason this team set up has gelled really well, and we are seeing some superb Gate performances.

Spoke to Greenie and Pat, Greenie turned his ankle a bit in training and needs about 8-10 days to come back to readiness, very keen to get back playing again. Pat felt a twinge so it was felt that he needs a bit more time. Aaron and Darren were on the bench with Nej, but no substitutions were made today.

Nice thing about going to Thurrock is you can beat them, go shopping in Ikea, and still be back home in time for tea.
