They're still playing, ain't they ?

Andy,

If Eminem did write stuff like this, I would not like his music.

Flag.

Only joking Big J- although I prefer other Floyd Albums- Wish You Were here and Animals for example. And the Beatles- with the exception of a couple of tracks I'd say their last 5 bona fide albums are all classics.

Personally... having such a very "minority taste" musically, I am well and truly shafted for the close season !

Pretty much the last year I regularly found something in the top forty which I liked was (I think, 'coz it gets very misty !) 1984 !

Everything I listen to now seems to be at least twenty years old, with very few exceptions.

The last "new" band I discovered that I liked was the Levellers and before that - it must be James... other than a quick mention for The Proclaimers !

Otherwise I am stuck with listening to a very limited (and ever dwindling) supply of cassette tapes - 'coz they do not tend to make CD's of the "ancient" indie stuff that I do like - Having said which, I have managed to get a few CD's of Bauhaus, Peter Murphy, Cocteau Twins, Dead can Dance, This Mortal Coil... and one or two others.

As far as the original question is concerned - the Beatles - I think that I am a "Non-Committal", largely because they have had very little influence; either directly or indirectly; on the music to which I listen.

I love the Beatles immensly...but am very willing to agree that the "pap" which people refer to has been entirely the making of Sir Paul McCartney, King of Pap.

Saw that Classic Album programme too.

Smoked 12 joints, took 2 acid tabs, and sank a crate of beer while watching it.

Who was it about again? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I thought most of McCartney's 'Wings' stuff was quite good. I loved 'Jet' and 'Band on the Run'.

Must admit, I got a bit p1ssed off with his late Missus pretending to be able to play some instruments, though one shouldn't speak ill of the dead !
