Starting line up?

In the last crass report that I read in The Observer, I think that it said a one year contract. It definitely was not a Pre-Contract Agreement and he definitely had committed his future to The Saints.

That was the article where it said that Gary had agreed a £100 bet with Simon that he would score more goals this season than The Ginger One. Perhaps he could lay the bet off if Crawshaw signs and commits his future etc.

Talking of Crawshaw, De Souza and Darren Bonfield [the latter between the sticks for Hemel on Tuesday], I remember the last time we saw them in action. The Amita Stadium when The SuperSaints 8 sorted out Farnborough Reserves. Time doesn't dim the memory. Gary Crawshaw wont need reminding of one of the high points of his glittering career but I'll mention it to him if he joins us.

Reference an earlier posting by me, I've just been corrected by a very reliable source that Castle has a 14 day suspension that starts on September 30th.

Seems a bit odd to me but there you are. I wonder what he did? He could be up for an Honorary Membership.

My opinion on the strikers: Martin obviously and Crawshaw has the knack of scoring, isn't past it and is class. I actually spoke to Snippets in the pub on Saturday and he really wants to do the buisness for City, he seems to think he'll start on the bench but I get the feeling he'll bang them in (top olde boy as well), De Souza looked for me a bit rusty on Sat, I know he's played at a high level but he had a year out injured, give him a bit more time, Mackial-Smith still young but doesn't look to me like he'll ever be the buisness at this level (prehaps a good scoring season in the reserves will help). i don't know who else played pre-season but that Bridge looked OK (was he a striker?)

I agree about Martin and Crawshaw, they will prove to be formidable partnership and must start. Sippetts could well make it and will be adequate back up for either of them. I think you are writing Mackail-Smith off at your peril. He is still only 18 (Sippetts is 25) and he has been injured almost all of the pre-season. His time will come, I don't have any doubt. I haven't seen enough of Bridge to comment. De Souza left the club on Saturday.

Oi, Charlie.

So. De Souza left The Club on Saturday. It must have been his autograph that he gave to Cookie in Fisher's clubhouse rather than completing Ryman League forms then.

Either that or Wayne Brown, the Fisher Athletic No 6, and their man of the match "left The Club on Saturday" when saying goodbye and good luck to Robbo and the assembled Travelling City Faithful after the game. In fact, he never joined it!

De Souza is the one who wears small rectangulkar spectacles, and looks a lot smaller off the pitch wearing clothes than on it in his kit.

A mistake anyone could make Chas.

Ive been informed that he has signed! In my opinon, hes not quite as good as I was expecting but hes now got the chance to show us more.

Have been particuarly impressed with Hollenbeck and Jon Challinor. Looks like the team is shaping up very nicely and we should expect good things this season.

"Ive been informed that he has signed!"

Yes. You have. By me.

I don't know why I bother. I try to pass on a few snippets and bits and pieces that one picks up while watching a game or enjoying a glass of lemonade in the clubhouse afterwards and what do I get? Reference to local newspapers. Reliable sources. Senior spokespersons. Friends in high places. Spin doctors. MI5.

Thanks? No. The occasional nod that says " Cheers for that bit of news"? No.

Abuse. That's all I get. Abuse.

I don't know why I bother.

Oi! Webbo! No!

Here's a question for you:

Who first said "Richard Gooddard signs and commits his future to The Saints"? [That was just before he signed and committed his future to Chesham not having signed anything at The Park.]

Here's a clue. You.
