Billericay 1-2 Tottenham XI

Recommended Posts

Billericay beaten by a young Tottenham XI that was full of pace.

Town got off to the worst possible start when JJ was penalised for a foul in the area in the 1st minute - penalty converted. Spurs then went 2-0 up but Billericay fought back in the last 15mins of the first half and triallist Sam Sodje scored with an acrobatic volley following a corner that the spurs defense couldn't get clear. 2nd half was fairly even I thought, Billericay went close with a couple of efforts, Russell Penn going closest with a long range effort that was palmed over by the keeper.

Overall I thought that the defense took time to settle with the arrival of Sodje disrupting a settled back 4. After the first half hour the defense looked pretty good against some lively Spurs attacking. The front 4 of the 2 Grahams and Forrester/Fewings did well and perhaps were unlucky not to get an equaliser.

i thought it was a pretty even game and billericay did well not to panic after some top diving earned spurs boys the early pen. my one criticism would be that I thought there were a couple of spells where we allowed the game to drift a bit and nothing really happened.

i would also suggest that with a couple of friendlies left it might be worth giving joe n carthy 90 mins each as we dont want mark graham knackered before weve started and i reckon we have 6 decent players fighting for 4 positions in the midfield so lets keep em all involved.

fewings n forrester did ok again up front and i wud be inclined to keep them together to see if they can sort out a decent partership altho have to hope forrester not injured after he limped off last night.

thought sodje did ok myself altho cant understand why rantala not getting a kick..he must have been miffed when carthy came on to play centre half....assuming that chris moore will play i think we have to look for someone with good distribution to play alongside him and my suggestion would be to try playing brennan at centre half along side mooro with willo n carthy in midfield.......food for thought....surely an ideal link to gazza... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wavey.gif" alt="" />

Well the Steak and Mushroom in a Frenchie (lol) was okay. Loads of Mushies but as you said at the game, the sausage in a frenchie was average fare so use the "Totty" burger bar. Bit bad that they ran out of the mushies when you got there...

And of the game..........
