Gary Hill? no, No, NO!

I'm with Slarti on this one.

Whoever gets the job will have my support 100% as they are doing it for our club.

I don't particularly care for Mr Hill but that is my own opinion.

If he ends up as manager, then he should be backed by the fans.

Still feel that Ansy should have seen it to the end of the season though <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Does it really matter what he has or hasn't achieved in the past, if he gets the job I'll support him and if he doesn't get the job then I don't give a t*ss about him.
Same goes to all other candidates.
We won't get the best manager in the world, hopefully we will get the best manager we can afford...more important is to not get a manager we can't afford.

Exactly right as usual Slarti. chilled out entertainer's comments in another thread about verbally abusing Hill if he became our manager were just foolhardy (although possibly said in the heat of the moment). I personally am sceptical about Hill, but as you say, once the appointment is made we've got to get behind whoever it is.

Hill was on £76k at Dagenham and £100k at Hornchurch. Maybe Hornchurch still being 5th owes as much to the massive points total they had when the money went as to what has happened since!

As passing dagger says, Hill took over a very good squad from the great Ted Hardy, a squad which had been knocking on the door for a few seasons, and on a couple of occasions, we had a healthy lead around Christmas time, only to fade in Jan/Feb. Hill came in and was given an increased budget, brought in a few players from St Albans and we won the league at a canter.

The side that did so well in the conference was based around the nuecleus he inherited from Ted. After the play-off near miss, he banged on at the club that he needed more money to improve the squad, and was given a massive budget increase for that season and this. He thought that he could build a passing side in the model of the Yeovil side that wone the league the previous season, but he blew both season's increased budget last year on a string of poor players and basically did not know how to get us out of it, as he had lost his dependable players.

The 0-4 against you lot was probably more soul destroying than the televised 9-0, in its way, as Hill had already resigned and just sat on the bench with his hands in his pocked the whole game.

We had some good years with Garry, but things had gone stale and it was time for a change.

Probably more rumour-mongering on the Margate forum, but this was posted over the weekend. And Kevin Hales was at Daggers on Saturday! Although this is at odds with Brian's assertion that it was unlikely we'll have anyone in place before Histon, so probably rubbish!

Garry Hill will be unveiled as new Gravesend manager this week. Kevin Hales will be his no 2. Both will be working full time. Heard it from "the horse's mouth" as it were. THIS IS DEFINITE. So you can relax Margate you will be stuck with CK while you are still alive and kicking. Don't think he would have been the right man for us - his conference record isn't fantastic but probably the best at lower non league levels as proved with the promotions with Dover and yourselves. Keep fighting.

If theres money involved Gary Hill follows it. Nothing he does is for the love of it! I.M.O.

WHERES HIS TRACK RECORD?. A track record has to be earned surely. He was "gifted" a track record. What can he do on a shoestring budget?
