Bless his little cotton socks, he's probably very lonely at his windswept half-finished cowshed now that all those chavs have p!ssed off back to Leyton Orient once it became clear that Hornchurch were going to be passed by Grays.

And Cambridge.

And Thurrock.

And Lewes.

And soon Basingstoke, Eastbourne, Weymouth etc etc etc and so on.

See it has happened again, I was at last night's game and had no access to the PC until this afternoon!!!! The resignation of Andy Ford comes as a shock and it is sad as he has done so much for the club. I hope we can now find the right person to take the club forward. As for this Urchin fan, go and look after your own club who are in pretty poor state, see what money does for you!!!!!!

now lets see who won the F.A. cup tie..... oh yes it was us...........

And that was only because your bloody ground isn't actually a football ground but an athletics field, with a lethal kerb round the athletics track, which took out one of our key players. Our captain surprisingly enough. If he hadn't have gone, then we would have beaten the urchins fair and square.

Anyway, back to Andy ford. I think that a good possibility for the club would be to leave the 2 maccas in charge for now, in a caretaker sort of role, and then go in for ade pennock at the end of the season, try and lure him back from welling. On one condition, he leaves MATT LOVELL right where he is!

That's a lot of responsibility to put on the shoulders of two people who are still esentially players.

OK iv'e spent a couple of days to think about the consequences of Andy Fords exit, and to be fair I have mixed feelings.

Reasons AGAINST him leaving:

1) I personally like to see continuity in a club so if he felt he'd done all he could, perhaps he could have stepped aside earlier, before we lost Ade,he could have swapped roles with him as it appears that the situation with the boards faith in him doesn't appear to have happened overnight.

2)His record with the club is excellent in many respects and he's put us in a stronger position than wev'e been in for years.

3)He had the ability to unearth some good young players and moulded them together with more experienced players into hard grafting sides, not always pretty to watch but effective, sometimes punching above their weight.

4)Any new manager will have to work under the same financial constraints Andy did,and would they wheel and deal as successfully? i am aware that he had a lot of near misses with some players he tried to get in,but he did pretty well overall.

5)would a new manager be full-time?I think it most important he is or it's a backward step.

6)Andy's commitment to the club was never in doubt, and that is a major virtue for any club to have in a manager.

I pray we don't end up with someone who wants to use us as a quick stepping stone to better things,we must trust the boards judgement on this.

Reasons FOR him leaving:

1)He may well nave taken us as far as he could and knew his limitations.

2)The many rumours of his man management skills,we did lose one or two good players whom it was alleged were frozen out.

3)Perhaps it is time for a change, new ideas, tactics etc. the club is after all the main priority and progression must be maintained.

4)Andy had only just been made full time,is it possible he found it more difficult than he thought,he did have his own business to run as well,as he said himself losing Ade made things harder for him so that didn't help.

5)If he felt he didn't have the complete confidence of the board, that must make it more difficult to motivate the players.

6)He was sometimes rather aloof and didn't communicate enough with the fans, still a problem with the club generally.

7)His leaving was perhaps inevitable with all the previous changes behind the scenes.

8)He did improve the squad but then so did every other club, and the league is much stronger this season.

Overall I feel it may well be the moment that enables us to take the next step forward,if we make the right appointment.

As for Andy Ford he deserves his place among the greatest Fleet managers, and we owe him an awful lot,I wish him the best of luck wherever he goes and we should always give him a good reception if he comes to Stonebridge Road in the future.
