Andy Ford quits

If Tommy Sampson is appointed as manager, as opposed to running the team until one is found (assuming that he has actually been appointed assistant, which I found surprising enough in itself) then it's a sign we're in trouble. A sign the finances have gone belly up & we don't have the money to pay a full time manager with experience & success at Conference level.

I've been interrupted 30 times composing this, so by the time I post it, hopefully some sensible real news will have emerged & this will be irrelevant.

You will see very soon. I really don't care what you think to be honest, but when it all spills out, I'd expect you to eat ya words pal... So, it looks like Tommy Sampson is at least AM for now.

Bit touchy aren't we, Number 8? I wasn't accusing you of lying, I'm just taking everything with a pinch of salt until some sort of official confirmation is given.

Plus the fact that a Conference club with supposed ambition would appoint a Doc Martens league manager with no proven track record at our level seems unbelievable!

I know mate... I'm not touhy, but believe me I'm not making it up.. I know folk inside the club, and they have confirmed it.. so how much more do you need?..

OK, I take your point on who will step in, cos right now, nothing has been totally confirmed.

Let's just sit back and wait until someone in senior authority at the club wakes up and writes an official statement... until then, let's discuss who is right for the job.. Best Regs (honest)

I'm not going to make something up like this mate.. If I am privvy to information, I will share it with fellow Fleet fans..

It's a shock, I agree, but I'm sure AF had his very legitimate reasons for resigning. I just wish him well in future projects and the best of health and luck. Also, would like to thank him for all his hard work and commitment over the past 7 or so years...!

Can't say I'm that surprised, although now that it's finally happened it will take time to sink in.

I've only ever known 'The Fleet' under Andy, and though the stories of him being aloof and distant were rife, he has left the club in a far better position than when he took over. I said a while back that Andy would walk rather than be pushed, I'm glad I was right. He wouldn't of deserved to have gone any other way. I doubt that we've heard the last of Andy, even as an opposition manager. So, best wishes for the future and thank you for the agony and the ecstacy.

It's a real shame that he's gone. First we lose Pennock, and now Fordy as well. Not looking too good for us is it. He was a good manager, and it seems as though he put all his effort into the side, I mean he even signed a full time contract didn't he.

How comes, if Garry Hill isn't in the frame for the job, as the club have said, why was he at the match last night? I quote from the report on Kent online:

"Tuesday's match was watched by Garry Hill, the former Dagenham & Redbridge and Hornchurch manager but Fleet officials were quick to refute speculation linking him with an immediate appointment."

I was one of the first in the bar before the game, about 7pm and garry hill walked in propped up the bar near the fruit machine with a couple of people. When i went to sit down with my pint i could not see him properly as the place was filling up a bit by then. Saw kilcullen, although near him not talking to him.

My thoughts are that hill is to take over? anyone else see him there or maybe talk to him? john@thefleet?

anyone know any news.

ps we were robbed last night, blatant handball on the line. a disgraceful decision by the referee,

jay was by far man of the match, won everything in the air and on the ground. so far man of the season.

Cos he took them as far as he could and was embroiled in a bit of a race row.

I for one, do not think that he would be a good appointment for the Fleet job.

There's just something about the bloke that I am not sure of.

That said, as for other contenders, well, I'm not at all sure who the best person would be...
