The shortest is Bury FC, not sure about the longest.

 

A couple of clues for mine: no.1 was a Spurs player, no.2 played for one of the home countries. Should be easy now.

Is it Jimmy Greaves (youngest to reach 100). Total guess, but was actually thinking that before you mentioned that he was a Spurs player.

 

Wolverhampton Wanderers is a good answer. Most people go with Brighton And Hove Albion or West Bromwich Albion.

You seem to be thinking of Arnie Sidebottom. Did he retire from football after Botham's brief foray?

 

What about Chris Marples: Derbyshire wicket keeper/ Chesterfield goalkeeper. Was he later than Arnie?

Arnie (I'm on first name terms you know) played centre back for Man Utd and was then sold to Huddersfield. He was given the choice by Yorkshire of either football or cricket as the seasons had overlapped and he was not available for pre-season with Yorkshire, suprisingly cricket paid better than fottball. Arnie is still coaching at the Yorkshire Cricket School (along with the legend that is Graham Roope)
