Oi Webbo! A word of warning!

Watcha Webbo.

Just a short note to say that I was very impressed indeed with the word of warning on the link thingy to these forums [fora?] on Rob's web-site.

I am so impressed that i will try to snip and glue it here:

"People who go on this message board vary in age, sex, religion, education and common sense. It is therefore quite possible that anyone entering the message board could find other people's opinions, both vulgar and offensive. It is therefore strongly recommended that you refrain from reading the messages if you are likely to be offended, as the message board is not part of the official St Albans City website and any subsequent complaints will unfortunately fall on deaf ears. In simple terms if you don't like other people winding you up or their often diverse opinions, then please stay off the board.

Thank you. - John Gibson Chairman - St Albans City FC"

[Phew. That worked.]

Anyway Webbo. Well done, once again. Did Herts Blue help you with the drafting of the thing? I have to say that it's a bit naughty putting the Chairman's name to it but I can understand your motives.

I well remember the incoherent ravings from that E-mail of complaint what you received last week. Hopefully, your words of warning will put a stop to lunatics like that wasting your very valuable time.

Hi Webbo.

Just thinking about it, do you think that it would benefit from a full stop after the word 'offended'? Omit the word 'as' and it would give greater weight to the subsequent sentence, in my view.

In addition, in the final sentence, I suspect that you didn't mean that other people [singular] have diverse opinions, but rather that there is a range of diverse opinions on here from different people.

You may wish to tidy the thing up a little. Always pleased to assist.

Hi Laz.

Yes. As we are speaking metaphorically, a lap-dog can indeed have its own lapdog. The use of the word twice in succession in a sentence would appear rather cumbersome and could result in confusion, however. It might be better to try "..a lapdog's lackey".

Hi JKiF.

Eh?
