Andy to name new Assistant Manager

Recommended Posts

No need to apologise for wanting a new striker Jess. The entire fanbase sees the need as well.

HOWEVER, I cannot see any point in getting loan players in any more unless (like Prothers) there is a chance to sign them having evaluated their suitability as a long term player.

Craig Macallister, Jefferson Louis were never going to stay for long, they simply filled a short term need, then left.

Try telling Aldershot that...their on loan striker scored a hat-trick on Saturday.

Agreed he was a class act - but he is leaving Aldershot soon, never to return.

I still maintain that short term fixes are not the solution.

We had a problem with the defence - Andy took a long term view, and brought in Pullen, pops, Bunce and Macarthy.

Take Saturday out of the equation , our back 4 seems a lot more solid than it did.

We now need to apply the same logic and principles to our woeful fowrward line.

If I were in chrge of selections, I would mix it up a lot to keep the like of Roy and Manny on their toes... how?... by playing Pinno and Moussa as my 1st choice strikers. Dunno about you lot, but I really rate Pinno, it's a waste of talent when he is sitting on the bench and our other strikers are struggling to put the chances away. At least Pinno runs at the opposition and gets 'stuck-in'. Proves he is hungry to start and stay on... Give the lad a chance, he is all we have left with any fire in his belly.

Tonite.

Long time to wait until the announcement. Maybe we should fill the time with random, rumoured wild guesses about who our new Number Two is.

I'll start with a wild stab in the dark... Liam Daish, the caretaker manager that didn't get the Welling job.

Speculation is rife now!!!! I thought I would try and ring Andy Ford and garner some information, but alas no such luck!!!! I doubt the announcement tonight would have much effect on the attendance tonight, I get the feeling a sense of apathy is building for the GLS Cup. Good to see Jessica shares my view that we need a striker, but I still feel we are not creating enough quality chances. We also need to remember that the reason we started this season well, was that all the players were here in pre-season, and again as Jessica points out, we need to ensure that the players we want are under contract, if possible. Team continuity is a big plus and we seem to have lost that recently.

I totally agree with giving Pinno a chance, he's got the talent, its a shame no one seems to want to give him a chance in the starting 11 because of this and not just as a stop gap when a striker is injured.

Agree that Andy should stay, what would getting rid of him achieve. Any new Manager would want to make changes and if Andy does not have the finances neither would anyone new.
I think a fresh face with the AM job would be great, as has been said, new ideas, a different view of things.

What we need to be looking at is who we want to keep for next season and making sure they do not escape through the hatch and that new contracts if necessary are sorted out soon.

The last thing we want is to start next year with some of our key people missing because we were not organised. So although Andy has said he enjoys getting involved with training etc. I think he needs help so he can concentrate on retaining key people and hopefully getting in new blood. Sorry to disagree but we do need a striker, I cannot see how all the problems can be blamed on the mid-field.

Good service is required but so is someone who makes his own luck and sadly we have been a bit short of that lately.

I feel that Andy is not able to take the club further and if all involved with the Fleet want further progress, now is time for change. We still can reach play offs and also begin to develop a new squad ready for next season.

A new manager will obviously have to release players in order to bring in new and may also be able to attract better ones. I don't see this as a problem at all.

A new AM with new ideas? The problem here is will AF take them on board otherwise a wasted position and expense.

Keeping players may be difficult. Who, in their right mind, is likely to sign a contract prior to next season, given the current state of affairs?? A turnaround in form and motivation is a must before then, I feel.

Agree we need new strikers and better service from midfield. If the midfield players we have can't do it then let's get some who can.

These comments are not aimed at you personally Jessica, I just wanted to voice my opinion on the topics you raised.
