Gary Hill would be a disaster

Think where we were when Fordie joined the Club and think where we are now.

Gary Hill - you are entirely mercenary and you are not wanted here. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/taz.gif" alt="" />

Why?

So he can come along and spend loads of money we don't have to win absolutely nothing?

Both him and Kinnear are the wrong choice. It's too late to out Ford, if it has to happen then close season is the time to do it and not bring in a over rated Essex wide boy.

I agree, Gary Hill is overated. He's got conference experience true, but so as Andy now. And he's no better a manager than Andy is. If we were to lose Andy, which I don't think would be right at this time, imo we'd have a tough job to get in anyone who will be good enough to bring the club forward to another level. There are managers out there who have the ability to do take us forward, but I doubt any would want to come to us.

I have to say I was always a bit perplexed as to why Hill, having finished second with Daggers one season, started to tinker with his successful formula in pre-season and promptly dragged the side down to mid-table obscurity the next.

No one can replace Andy, his loyalty speaks for itself. The need for a good motivating second in command is the priority. How about Ports (just kidding).

Fleet through and through!

I don't know if Garry Hill would be a disaster, but I agree that I think the best course of action of the club at the moment is to stick with Andy Ford until the end of the season. His loyalty to the club deserves at least that and he has taken a long way over the last 8 years. I have said before that I feel that the only way the club will move further forward is to go full-time but I don't see that happening for at least another season, which could mean a struggle, but I hope not. We do need a good assistant and the loss of Pennock was a blow. Here's hoping we turn the corner and that Mr Ford has a few more years in the hot seat at the Fleet.

You are missing a season there somewhere.

We finished third, second (grrr) and then fifth and lost the play off final to Donny before Garry dismantled the team that won the Ryman.

He's not the best judge of a player IMHO and didn't replace the players we lost with better players which is why it slipped last time.

He's not the best man to build a team I would say, but he's great at getting the best out of what you already have.
