New Ground

it is time the council did something but its not happening, theres no way theyd allow us to build any kind of new stadium, let alone one for the community, there is the new herschel grammar sprts facility now, why would they consider building another? the herschel one in itself cost 3 million pounds! (most of it paid by charities but its still a lot of money, especially with the price of land)

Its time we stopped expecting the Council to do anything for us. They've made their position quite clear I think. We need to take matters into our own hands (don't know how). Finding out Martin Deaners current position would be a start though. Even if we don't like what we hear, its better to know now than during the close season when there isn't enough time to do anything about it.

Totaly agree Kay, NOW is the time for finding out where we stand so plans can be structured and then implimented before its too late.

Yes Slough council have no time for us and the next elections are to far off with the risk that the current "collective" will remain in power.

What happens if Martyn does not fund the coming seasons rent at Stag meadow?

If this council wont help will Bucks or RBWM consider us building on land they control planning permision on?

Dare I say that we could take over Windsor or another small club?!

The future is in the supporters hands and time for action is now.

Just a quick question, how much land do the Thorns own at Wexham Park, does it include the allotments. Only asking because I work for a housing developer, and no one would pay £80m for that land even with planning permission, more likely £2-3m, but thats still a lot of profit for doing f**k all apart from kicking us out of the ground.

You have got a flipping long wait Andrew if you are waiting for Wexham Park to move. We work here and no-one here is expecting it to happen. In fact no one here knows anything about it, we only know what the Slough Observer tells us. Unless of course you know different.

As you qute rightly state the only info that I have heard about Wexham Park Hospital has been in the local papers, although the Express ran an exlusive story late last year, about how the prefered site for the new Hospaital was by the Roundabout that leads to the Windsor Bypass & Eton, at the bottom of Windsor Road, this is part of Eton College grounds.

What annoys us is the amount of money just been spent on Wexham Park Hospital ie. 9 new theatres, new MRI scanning unit and A & E refurbishment. Now there is talk of knocking it down, all because they say its difficult to get to. Mmmm Eton / Windsor is quite easy to get to isnt it, about two buses there as well I think. King of Cr@p is right, the site here is massive think of the money they will make by building houses and flats, the Football Club wont stand a chance. The same goes for Kennedy Park, they will try and build houses on there I bet. Councillor Stokes will know what a petition really is if he goes down that road !!!!!

that is another problem we have to contend with, with any land we find comes the fight with land developers who want it as well, i know its not what people want but whats the chances of finding land outside of the slough council area eg south bucks?

Slim. Part of Wexham Park is within South Bucks and they opposed development. Why would South Bucks want Slough in their borough anyway? Also it would defeat one of the aims of the Trust which is to ensure that the club plays a key role within the community. Slough Borough is supposed to be our community so that is where we should be.
