Do we really need a new striker?

As I said before, take him out of the team and replace him with who?

He isn't a terrible player, he's in a bad run, not helped by the team playing poorly as a whole.

Start playing to his strengths i.e make him stay in the box then he'll start scoring again.

Players need encouragement and not labelling with tags like donkey and terrible. It's not all his fault.

I didn't say that it was all his fault. Maybe they should try replacing him with Moussa up front, or as I have said before, move Jukebox in from the wing to play behind the main striker.

 

He was playing badly before the team started playing bad as a whole. Is that really his strength though Jimmy, I thought that the only strength he had was being able to win the occasional header.

Unlike some, I think we have a problem with both Roy and Manny.

Roy will only be successful when a quality cross is put into the box onto his head.His lay offs are frequently mistplaced to the oppo and he appears to have problems controlling and holding onto the ball awaiting support.

Which is where Manny comes in. He is ALWAYS too far away from Roy to be considered a strike partner. If he play 10 - 15 yards awy, fine. But often he drifts out wide leavibg Roy 30 - 40 yards away from anyone. He must sit really close by Roy looking for loose balls or short passes.

Manny's other problem is that he always looks for the foul, going to ground too easily, when it would be advantageous to stay up and get nearer to goal.

At least twice on Saturday this happened - no more than 20 yards away from where I was standing and there was clearly a good tackle or minimal contact by the defender , and down went Manny, appealing for the foul.

Moussa does the same, but in his defence he does get some rugged and robust tackles on him.

I can't really see how this would help. As Jimmy says, there really isn't anyone suitable to replace him in the squad at the moment, despite his poor run of form.

Although Manny does drift out wide, he seems to be able to create the play from out there. Roy let the ball run through 4 or 5 times when he could have managed to produce something from it on saturday. He just doesn't seem to have the heart at the moment, sees it as too easy to get into the side. I'd play Pinno rather than Roy, ans see how he teams with Manny.

 

Re Macca's top XI, anywhere I can see it? I didn't see it when it first appeared.

I did saw I was going to keep quiet, but......... Essandoh does need the service, and although I accept he is struggling, he does have the track record of scoring goals. Alright it has been a while, but maybe if he gets one he will get ten. We can only live in hope!!!!!

Also agree with you CG, this has been quite evident since the start of the season yet nothing changes week after week.

We do need new strikers, Pinno will never make it as one, Roy has never been one apart from the odd occasion and Manny is over rated and over paid (probably) for his return. Be interesting to see how Nick H performs tonight.

We also need better service to the forwards from midfield, I would say all of them need a great deal of crossing practice. Jukebox may be talented but he cannot be considered our best creative player when he rarely delivers a decent cross into the box.
