....er, bit of a way to go if the game is off...Not the easiest of journeys. Considering that if it is off, we'll be pitching up to support our lodgers to a victory over your motley crew at New Lodge.

My recollection (but don't quote me) was three Iron players and two Ricay players. It was rumoured a fouth Iron player was red carded after the match for further comments to the ref.

 

To be honest I felt embarassed to be associated with Braintree that day, some of our supporters felt equally so, others felt the referee was unable to control the game was perhaps unaware there were a number of ex-Ricay players in Iron shirts to add to the tension. Well manager Emburey was sent packing by the board that evening. It was a sad day and a head rolled. But I did get a lot of personal ribbing at work from Billericay folk and as you know, I enjoyed giving it back after the reversal of scores recently. Contrary to what you think I have nothing personally against the club or Town, I really enjoyed working there delivering mail around the streets. The best job I had was a round that included delivering to the office within Lake Meadows. Fond memories indeed. BTW pass my regards to Rob Mason when you see him.
