This is weird. Abbey get deducted 3 points but Romford have to replay a game. both commited the same offence!

As I understand it Romford signed a player, asked the Essex FA whether he was clear of suspension, were told he was and so played him. It then turned out that was in fact under suspension. Because Romford did all that they could have done they were not penalised the points and a replay was ordered instead.

 

The Abbey player, however, has been with them since (at least) last season so the circumstances are different: they should have known exactly what the suspension was and have been punished accordingly.
