"BURNHAM - After talks late this week it was decided Shane Small-King and Phillip John would be released from the club. Small-King had been the subject of a seven day approach from AFC Newbury. After weeks of ground works at the Gore, Wymers Wood Road, the new development at the ground has at last seen construction above the surface. Steel erectors have arrived and the first signs of a building and the stand roof are visible."

This is getting more and more depressing...

Its a shame slough council cant be more like south bucks council and allow slough some room to breathe!

An interesting comment, Saint, you should have seen the battle Burnham had to get this through, including a concerted campaign against it by a Councillor who was a member of the planning committee plus a group of residents whose houses were built on the cricket pitch half of the ground and bought the houses, with the basic planning permission already granted!!!

In the end the planning application was granted by 7 votes to 6 on the casting vote of the Chairman.

Incidentally the Councillor mentioned was the same guy who led the campaign against the other Burnham Ground plan which was remarkably close to a certain Park in Slough, but just the other side of the border.

Not to mention the fact that this same South Bucks planning committee has been the thorn in the side of STFC in getting any permission to do anything at Wexham Park.

For football's sake, thank goodness Burnham FC owned the ground - and the council even disputed that! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/flame.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/flame.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/flame.gif" alt="" />

PS I drove past the ground today and the steelwork for the stand is already starting to appear - looking good!

In today's Times there is a two page article about 650,000 new homes to be built in the South East over the next few years. The article highlights where the greatest density will emerge and the hotspots who are basically going to have [censored] loads dumped on them. You'll never guess where one of those hotspots is?

Obviously yes it is Slough. Which means that space within the borough will be at an even greater premium. I wonder how long it will be before Wexham Park is housing....
