My first game was 77/78 v PEGASUS -

benefit game,i think Tony Currys brother played for us,won 3-2

If you mean Willie Currie, then I think you will find that he was playing for Dagenham FC in that season.

My first match at Hornchurch was when Bob Freeman's XI played West Ham - score was 0-5 to West Ham.

Can't remember my first game exactly (about 1977?) but about the time that the stadium floodlights failed during a cup game versus Letchworth Garden City causing the game to be abandoned. We were winning I think but lost the replayed game <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

my first game was hornchurch v hendon in 1980,my dads best mate was called peter anderson and he played for hendon,that was my first game,we went to see at the bridge,the chap we went to see played for hendon then and now lives in bridge avenue,back in the isthmian,can someone find out what league we was in at the time,remember there being 200 odd hendon fans there as they was a big club at time,think newport were a league club at the time

Not at all sure about this one - in 79/80 and in 80/81 Hendon were in the Isthmian Premier and Horchurch were in the Isthmian Div 2.

 

They did not meet in the FA Cup, nor in the Trophy, so I would guess that it must have been a league cup game.

 

And, whilst I am on the subject, the programme (page two) has for some considerable time listed HFC as being Athenian Champions in 1996/97 - the AL did not exist in that year - I think it should read 1976.

may not have been 1980,i moved to hornchurch when i was four(1978) and the person we was seeing playing was my dads mate who we met when i started school,would of been within a couple of years either side.don't think it was a friendly but i know it was early in season or late as the weather was hot

Yes - it was season 66/67 when they won the Athenian League Div 1 (after being relegated the previous season).
