Allaway...

I would hope if Allaway did leave, we'd be able to get some money/friendlies for him as he signed up to a contract earlier this season. Should he decide to leave as well, I think we have an excellent understudy in Parkin, who impresses me more and more with each game I see him play. Nice lads as well the pair of them...

I watched Allaway make his Rebels debut against Walsall and he was amazing, i hope he stays for a while he would be a hell of a loss to the club. Parkin has also looked pretty good, but maybe not quite to the level of Allaway has done.

Thing is a goalkeepers ability can be slightly limited by the strength of his defence.

Allaway has largely been very impressive. What we have to remember about Parky is that he is only 17 - and is certainly one for the future. But to have him in the squad playing on occasions can only be of benefit to him and the team. Parky's late save against Hendon was truly awesome.

only 17? i didnt know that, obviously a very promising talent but Allaway has had more expreience with his various loan spells so is a more obvious choice in goal.

we just have to be a bit careful to make sure they dont attract too much attention from other clubs, which would not be surprising, or we could find ourselves with a bit of a problem!

True, but Allaway is at least on contract until the end of the season - so we would get something in return. I think Parky is on some FA Youth set-up so I am not entirely sure he could go even if someone bigger and better came calling. Well not just yet anyway.

The story in the Observer is that he has been training with Derby recently and that they may look to bring him in during this month. Eddie says:

"If the deal was to go ahead we would expect some money first of all and then enhancements depending on appearances."

Interests me that Derby are interested as they already have two current England Under 21 keepers on their books (Lee Camp and Lee Grant). Personally I hope we keep him till at least the end of this season as I think, despite some dodgy kicking performances, he has been excellent for us in his time at Slough.

Let's not get carried away at how much we might get if he goes. Watford were just ordered by a tribunal to pay about £2750 for Omari Coleman who was Dulwich Hamlet's top scorer for two seasons. We'd get £1000 at best for Shaun which is scant consolation for losing a quality keeper.

What Watford did agree was to play a full strength team against Dulwich in pre-season as they also do against Northwood after signing both Scott Fitzgerald and Jay Demerit in recent times. That would be good if we could get that agreed with Derby and would be worth far more than a small fee.

i think hes aged 20-23 isnt he, not exactly sure. Hes a big name because he has been on the books at several league clubs including leeds, although he never really made much of a breakthrough there he is one hell of a keeper!

(Correct me if im wrong!)

Allaway is 21. ARAAS is right in that he has never played a league game but he has been highly thought of at several clubs without ever having made the breakthrough. He has played international footabll at age group level for England and has to be considered an excellent prospect. He has not gone anywhere yet though - although Ian is spot on we would not get very much anyway particularly given his contract expires at the end of the season. A friendly would suit us nicely.

I am sure he was on the bech a couple of times for Leeds when Nigel Martyn was injured / suspended so David O'Leary must have rated him a cover.

I know that Reading weren't happy at losing him to Leeds as they saw him as a future key player.

It's not surprising that League clubs are going to be after a player like that as he has more than enough ability to be playing at that level.

The fact that he has played at that level would indicate that a tribunal would be asking them to pay a lot more that Watford had to pay for Coleman.

Maybe, but unfortunately for him that just doesnt mean a lot at that level, goalies very rarely get injured in a match, i think coming to a team like slough would be good for him becuase he can work hid way up the leagues from here if he does decide to leave, which would be good for his game

Not seen many non league keepers then ?
Slough in the past have had three keepers go on to play top proffessional football, with Arsenal,Chelsea and QPR. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wurm.gif" alt="" />
