Leader: New plans are so crucial

Thanet Council leader Sandy Ezekiel spoke again about how important it is that it is that the business and project plan submitted by the club at the end of the 14 days are viable.

He said: “There has always been a solution if they come up with a business plan and project plan that shows it is viable. If the scheme isn’t viable then it can’t go ahead.

“I think we were 99 per cent sure going into Wednesday’s meeting that that would be the end.

“I believe there is a genuine offer from Gary Lever and that the company is a bona fide one. I believe they are wanting to do a deal here.

“I think they are committed to the project, we are committed to the project and we just need to know the details.”

He said that the appointment of solicitors and valuers by the council will be made by today (Tuesday) at latest.

Cllr Ezekiel continued: “There is no going back, and the valuers will be totally independent.

“I don’t think if the valuer finds that the assumptions of the developer are correct it would reflect badly on the council – it would provide the proof we need.

“We need a robust business plan and project plan – it’s no good putting headline figures and not showing where they come from. We are concerned over the money issues.

“The project plan was weak – maybe it was the amount of the time they had to produce it, although the club have been with their current partners for a year.

“I’m sure the club aren’t convinced this is a robust business plan, and they need that assurance.”

Ezekiels statement quotes

"I believe there is a genuine offer from Gary Lever and that the company is a bona fide one". “I think they are committed to the project,”

"Bona Fide" Ezekiels words! That PROVES that it is and should be a viable proposition in itself.

Genuine offer = Assurity! Committed = Assurity

--------------------------------------------------

“I don’t think if the valuer finds that the assumptions of the developer are correct it would reflect badly on the council – it would provide the proof we need".

"He is worried, very very worried that it will be called in our favour. However, with the COUNCIL choosing the independant surveyor it worries me that the flak the council may and indeed WILL get will be the incentive to the council to make sure it goes in their favour. Know what I mean. Lets hope not!

--------------------------------------------------

At the end of all this, whether it is deemed to be viable or not it dosent mean that the ground can't be sorted so heres an invitation to the council. You say you want it, you say you are with us,you say you want a football club in margate, so how about putting the money up front and help us to get the ground sorted ONLY.Am sure a repayment plan can be arranged.

That would be the only proof we need to see that what you say about being with us is indeed an honest statement. You let this club die and you will be the enemy of many many people not only for killing off the club by not allowing us the CHANCE to succeed but also by absolutely LYING to us all about how you care.

Put your money where your mouth is!!!!

It's interesting that for a year or so he kept banging on about how the finance was not in place. Now he admits it is.

Perhaps he has been wrong on the viability issue too?

And where does the bit about the club not being convinced come from?

Does sound a bit like covering his you-know-what.
