chop, having played a high standard myself in goal, I worked to this, if the defence moan say to them, when a keeper is behind them he sees there [****!!****] ups, when a keeper goes for a ball in his area, the defender is the one to blame as you cant do everything can you <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/laughuncontrollable.gif" alt="" /> and when you shout at them they still dont listen like the forwards

When I were a young lad... used to go out on delivery with drivers from the old mans wine/spirit retail business and some of the drops were to the residences of Sir Michael Tippett (the classical composer) and the mother of one Patrick MacNee (the original Steed in the Avengers) - met both famous worthies before I was of an age to be overwhelmed by their fame !

Later on in life, prior to my marriage - I worked the bar of the local hotel within which all the luvvies from the local theatre shows would stay.

I have held forth with the likes of Jean Boht (Ma from Bread), Gordon Kaye (René from Allo Allo), Sam Kelly (Capt. Hans Geering from same),John Savident (Fred Elliott from Corrie), Denis Waterman (Terry from Minder) amongst others.

However, the most exciting time I ever spent with some famous folks was back in the 80's - a girlfriend of the time worked at an estate agency which had just sold a house to one of the Tears for Fears guys - who then invited her and myself to a local nightclub to celebrate - which was cool insofar as I had recently dipped my toes into the South African songwriting industry - so got to chat "business" with Curt Smith & Roland Orzabal, who also introduced me to Hugh Cornwell (Stranglers) when we got into the club.

Aaaah ! Those were the days ! (and what might have been ?)

Referring back to Vienna's previous post, re bar work.

I used to work in an area in North West London, and used to pop into a pub called 'The Castle', right next door to the BBC rehearsal studios, some lunchtimes.

The list is endless, but some will stand out in my mind for ages, including:-

Les Dawson. (He didn't suffer fools gladly)

Max Wall. (He of the funny walk. Loved pints of Guinness.)

Bryan Pringle. (very serious person for a comedian)

The whole cast of 'Juliet Bravo' (remember that one ?)
