An impressive display from a hard working and well disciplined Ampthill side saw them take the three points and move above Kempston in the Beds County Reserve league table this evening.

 

Town nearly went one up after the Kempston keeper handled outside the box, the resulting free kick saw a Dan Roach thunderbolt well kept out by the keeper. The amps were not to be denied the first goal of the game though when heavy pressure again resulted in Kempston giving away a free kick 20 yards out, this time Dave Marlow tried his luck and found the bottom corner, leaving the keeper helpless.

Early in the second half, Ampthill went 2-0 up when a flick on from the outstanding Danny Hollis sent Lee-Brown clear one-on-one, and as the keeper came out to close down the angle, Lee-Brown coolly slotted the ball home.

 

Just minutes later and Kempston got themselves back in the game after a sloppy cross-field pass by Gareth Fossey was intercepted by a kempston midfield who drove at the heart of the amps defence and managed to get a powerful shot away that was parried into the net by the unlucky Ampthill keeper Latham.

 

With Ampthill fearing a Kempston comeback they soon killed the game off when Danny Hollis rose highest to head home from a Mark Kelly cross. Very Late on Ampthill had the chance to make it 4-1 from the penalty spot, but Stuart Endacott blasted over.
