There has been a stay of execution for Mergate Fooball club. Supporters who feared the club might fold, now face an anxious 24-hour wait. There was a last-ditch meeting at three o'clock on Wednesday afternoon between the club and Thanet District Council, whose officers had recommended that members reject the latest ground development proposals. The new plan which was put forward will now be considered by Thanet Council on Thursday.

Maybe my manic day spent clutching a straw every ten seconds was worth it. My class of eight year olds did not understand the plight of MFC when I explained it this morning (I wore my MFC tie you see) Perhaps the fat lady has laryngitis. Mind you i don't know what to believe any more.

 

Here's hoping.

 

Incidentally it is my fellow MFC nut Martyn Lambert's fortieth birthday today. Lets hope for a good present in the form of positive news for the club.
