Conference south site

Many people already log into this site at www.confsouth.co.uk

For those who don't, i thought it worth noting that today there has been a massive amount of support for club and fans from rival clubs.

The numerous messages of support and sympathy are frankly overwhelming and bring a tear to the eye.

Amongst this there are a few posts which make succinct and valid points.

They have been alluded to on our own forum but put clearly by normally bitter rivals:

a)Margate football club is one of'the most famous names in non league football'

It takes a very brave council to destroy the famous history that reaches far beyond Thanet.

MFC is one of the traditionalists and founding fathers of non league football

Just occasionaly the emotional side of any decision should be spelled out to TDC and may just make them think twice.

b)Again we constantly say that we are a community club;whilst others retort that there are other sporting and cultural events in the community.

The fact is that MFC would attract 1000 people every other week to conference south football and 1800 to conference national football.

No other sporting or cultural event in Thanet gets anywhere near that; and this occurs every two weeks.

That is a major community event for Thanet.

Can this council really justify denying the community of that ,without one final and further look at whats on the table to grind out an eleventh deal that is satisfactory to all parties

Agree Michael - I post on the site and only last week when I put the last club statement on the response was supportive and sometimes expressed amazement at our plight - apart from the constant references to 'why did we knock down the ground?'.

Your point about the community is spot on. Sadly however Thanet Council, whatever colour were in power, have systematically destroyed the community in a barrage of short term thinking that lines their own pockets, cements their cosy positions and sod everyone else.

Much as I would like to see them change at this late hour, I can't see it happening. For them the chance given to acquire a prime plot of land to then use to further their own murky interests.
