FT: Slough Town 1 Cheshunt 0 - Bryco Cup 3rd Round

Sixteen touches from two yards to get the ball into the net, well done Smurf 2!! Plenty of chances for us as we hit the woodwork three or four times as we dominated the first half. They came back into it in the second and some bad misses and good saves from Allaway kept the score goal less.

Murphy popped up at the end after Hodges had a shot saved by their mouthy keeper (silly boy) and Smurf stuck in the rebound.

Line up was: (4-4-2)

Allaway

Steer

Mi Murphy

Gyoury

Saulsbury

Haddow

Metcalfe

Hakki

Spencer

Hodges

Ma Murphy

Subs:

Carbon (For Spencer 70 ish)

Wilkinson

Parkin

Harris

Daly

I suspect many will disagree, but I thought that Hakki played well tonight, particularly in the first half.We have missed someone playing a holding midfield role, and his return signaled a bettere midfield performance, and more chances created.

Thought too often he tried to do clever little flicks and turns when a simple ball would have done fine. I though the better performance came from the 4-4-2, but then I would say that! Having just watched through the highlights (clips not really visible from the turnstile end mind), we did create a fair few chances....

Veli played well especially in the first-half with the about 10 minutes remaining of that half when we created lots of chances. Hodgey and Matt Murphy both missed sitters and hit the bar in this period when they should have scored.

Trouble is if you play Veli I think you have to leave out Chopper as you will not get away with playing both of them in midfield at this level whereas you did in Ryman 1. You could play Chopper wide right in a 4-4-2 behind Josias, but I thought Spence played pretty well there tonight.

Personally at the moment i'd play Veli as we have been creating very little and he does create chances and he keeps the ball better than Chopper.

I think Veli needed last nights game to get him back into playing 90 mins. He just needs to sharpen up his skills and only competetive games will do this.

It was also intresting to see both Haddow and Steer on the left and their pace and crosses did cause the defence problems and I would like to see Eddie try this more often.

Putting Chopper on the right is one option but why not put him in Metcalfs role as I still lack confidence in him.

Nick did not really stand out which means he probably had a fairly solid game. I think the back four of Sauls, Gyoury, Murph and Steer/Haddow (who seemed to interchange) looked good. I think this could pose Eddie a few problems if he is considering a switch back to 4-4-2. But it is nice in a way to have "selection" difficulties.

I thought Hakki did well although at times he seems a bit ginger in going into the tackle which is understandable given his injury problems.
