Billericay 3-0 Gravesend & Northfleet

Recommended Posts

Good performance from town. Gravesend had the bulk of the posession but soem woeful shooting let them down. On the rare occasions they got chances on target JJ was able to make the saves.

For Town Lee Williams was superb in midfield winning more or less everything. Joe Baker from a quickly taken free kick, Lee Williams with a solo effort and substitute Richard Graham with a superb turn and volley were the scorers.

Still not totally convincing in defence, however we do look very good going forward, Mark Graham had another good game and Scott Forrester showed why Borg rates him so highly.

A good performance and one that goes some way to erasing that 3-1 defeat last season at New Lodge.

I was impressed. Joe Baker showed that he CAN track back when we are under pressure, Fewings showed that we have been missing that strong centre forward a la Simmo and that he is well up for making things difficult for keepers and defenders alike and yes, I agree, Forrester looks like a find.

The goals were well taken as well.

So on the basis of last nights performance I would say the future looks bright.

Oh and nice comment form George last night, proclaiming that he was happy. Mr. Borg, I was very happy at 9.30 last night. Thanks.

On a happier note for those of us that need the food of the burger bars to wrap up an enjoyable visit, we have a new deluxe van selling what looks like very palatable steak burgers in french sticks. Yum, yum. And no, I did not try one but will next week.

A fine performance from town. i thought we were good value for the win. couple of early contenders for goal of the season and the team should be pleased with a solid effort from 1 to 11 (and subs). if we can keep this depth of squad together there s no reason why we cant have a good season ahead..george borg was even seen to smile at one point. by the way with ref to some of the messages on the site i think its a bit rich to write personal things about people when u havent even got the bottle to put your own name to it ....enjoy the season

Soccer: Billericay Town 3 - 0 Gravesend and Northfleet (Friendly)

With new arrival Mark Graham looking head and shoulders the star player on the field, Billericay Town produced their best pre-season friendly display yet to dispose of Gravesend and Northfleet at New Lodge last night.

Mark Graham oozed class whether attacking the Nationwide Conference newcomers down the left or right and looks set to be a huge asset as Gary Calder's men aim to emulate Gravesend's feat of winning the Ryman League Premier Division title last season.

With experienced Dave McDonald and young former Southend United player Danny Kerrigan looking strong in the home full-back roles, Gravesend rarely found their way through a resolute rearguard in which goalkeeper Jerome John always looked in command.

A cheeky free-kick which caught the visiting defence unawares after 28 minutes saw Joe Baker put Billericay ahead.

And six minutes later a delightful run and shot from Lee Williams, one of only five players from last season in Billericay's starting line-up, made it 2-0.

Mark Graham's brother Richard, formerly with Chesham, may be joining the New Lodge set-up as well and, after John had repeated his first-half heroics of thwarting Gravesend star striker Che Stadhart in a one-on-one situation, grabbed the third goal eight minutes from time after coming on as a second-half substitute.
