Our fa cup money

I read that we cant get boot coz we cant afford his wages but he must only be on about 200 pound a week and surely we can get that from our fa cup money. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/djsmile.gif" alt="" />

the club has budgeted for the season's wages expenditure and we're at that now. We'd have to cut three or four players to afford Boot and as we don't have a big squad as it is, it's a pointless idea

The FA Cup money is a "bonus" that should not be used to alter the team budget.

 

If Yeading have any sense they will use their huge windfall to improve the ground - a long term investment and safe guard their future. Something they need to do when there is no natural fan base.

 

With our significantly smaller winnings etc there has to be other priorities. Also remember that lots of work was undertaken at Stag Meadow and additional facilities toilets, coaches etc were required for our big games. I doubt they were free so we probably did not "make" that much money.

 

I also heard a rumour that I think Salisbury spent a five figure sum on a player after their cup exploits against Sheff Wed who unfortunately for them turned out to be crap. No benefit in wasting your money.

i think that this money should go towards either the new stadium fund or towards something for the future, a youth football scheme or something, it would be a shame just to see it disappear into wages

I cant imagine we would have made THAT much, especially not enough to consider any sort of spending spree, anything we have in the bank should be saved to make sure we can still have a team next season, surely thats the priority?

Yes Marcus but surely a team cant be run on fa cup success money each season.

 

Other measures need to be in place to cover the basics. FA Cup is just a bonus.

 

Personally I believe some news should come from the club on the status of Deaner as Chairman and some current background issues.

The first priority (in business and at home) should always be to reduce debt to a manageable level. I believe the debts of FRUS are huge........

Yes, but what are the debts of STFC? Not much I think. The two can quite easily become unrelated I think...

FRUS owns STFC.

 

FRUS's debts in their last published accounts were in excess of £650K.

 

Their business is running Sports Stadia.

 

They don't have a Stadium and apart from that, running STFC is the only activity....

I thought they changed that over the summer or something though? New company and new board which was supposed to be setup and we've not heard anything of since?

That would not mean that the debt would just "go away". It would just be inherited by the new company. After all, if you were a creditor, would you just politely say "no need to worry about that £100,000 you owe us- just forget it ever happened"

Indeed, but different to the company owning STFC having 650k of debts to having none.

 

Debts may still lie with the FRUS company, but if it's nothing to do with STFC any longer, then how would we be included in repayments??

Going back to the first post wouldn't your money be better spent on more 'long' term things rather than a few months loan of a player?

In response to Gary's post- STFC are currently running at a substantial loss so even if the debt has been moved on, new debt is being incurred daily. This will have to be dealt with one day. It cannot just go on piling up.

Agree totally, but looking forward, if that debt which is building up is FRUS, then the club could still be ok? I'll admit to being well out of my depth when talking about businesses and how they operate so could (and probably am) be talking a load of rubbish.

If, as you say, FRUS no longer controls STFC then this new company is now accumulating debt. So now you would have FRUS with £650K debts and STFC accumulating new debt daily. Something has to give.
