I believe there are few people who have had the experience of playing alongside the Chairman. Many years ago, over Tuckers' Park, Dave was playing in a right sided defensive role [not sure which West Ham hero he was imitating]. His first touch was unceremoniously sent into touch, out of the park, into a back garden and gone for ever. Game over, it was the only ball. The game must have lasted no more then a couple of minutes. 20+ very unhappy kids!

Bowls is certainly pleased its not. If he treated a bowl the same way he treated that ball there'd be trouble!

 

Reminds of a holiday some years ago. A mate was caught with a bird on the bowling green, practicing his length or somesuch. We crept up and switched on the sprinklers. Put him off his stroke!

1. Cant see JC releasing such an integral part of a championship chasing team.
