Game Against Cheshunt

I have just read Dave's (Programme) message on another thread about the chances of the pitch being playable for the Chechunt game.

I will be down the club tonight so will evaluate it then and give an update.

The groundsman will be preparing the pitch tomorrow so I will get him to call me to let me know what the chances are.

Providing that the rain is not too heavy and there is plenty of wind then it should be fine.

A lot will depend on whether he can get the machinary on the pitch to do the work or not.

The pitch was extremely wet tonoight and with the strong possibility of more rain tommorow I would not hold out much hope of it being on.

I will update you all again once I have spoken to the groundsman to see what he thinks.

You know my regular response to questions about the weather affecting our matches - if in any doubt, ring the ground before you leave. You would imagine the match officials would be there an hour before kick off and can make a decision at that point there and then. Unfortunately if it rains heavily between the time you call and kick off the game can still be called off, as it was for the Berks and Bucks game with Bracknell last year.

The moral of the story though, ring the club before going to the ground

And taking BFR's advice to ring the ground, the contacts page on STFC website reads:

Contact Us

sloughtownfc.net will bring you full details, of who to contact at the football club very soon.
