I'm referring to the fact that Elvis has stormed in at number one this week with a re-release of Jailhouse Rock.

 

Now, I know that January is a notoriously slow month for singles sales, but Elvis' record company are re-releasing all 17 of his numbers ones over the next 17 weeks, and his fans are all so barking mad that could we possibly have a run of 17 consecutive, different Elvis number one singles until early May?

Elvis had 15 different singles in the Top 40 in 1957 unfortunately, mate.

 

The Wedding Present only managed 12 in 1992.

I don't think so, the guiness book of hit singles has Elvis and Wedding Present down as 12 each and it was well known at the time that they would equal the record.

They both only has twelve new singles in their respective years, but Elvis had three singles from the previous year also in the Top 40 during January/February 1957.

They've got back together actually so maybe they should try and put out 18 singles this year. Been listening the George Best recently, [****!!****] great album

Only track I've got of theirs is on 1988's Sgt Pepper Knew My Father compilation album for NME/Childline.
