Clearly a disappointing result. Every game is crucial when you are trying to play catch up and this game was sadly reminiscent of some of our early season games where we dominated in the main but failed to get our true reward.

We were a bit slow out of the blocks and some sloppy (non existant) marking gifted them the lead from a completely free header. From that point on I don't think there was any first half play in our half as we absolutely dominated them forcing countless corners yet unfortunately failing to take advantage. Even in the second half against the wind we were miles better than them but we couldnt make our possession count.

I thought defensively we were fairly solid despite a moments somnambulism from Trotty and the midfield did well, in particular Kieren whose delivery was excellent especially considering the wind. I thought today we were weak up top. Cuz had an off day and Nathan struggled a bit against the big unit 5. I was surprised we didnt take a chance on Stowey or Tom Poole for the last 10 or 15 either replacing or supplementing one of the front two.

I reckon weve had at least 70 pc of the possession, probably 20 corners against about 5 and got nothing from the game, that's the way it goes sometimes. At least we've got an early opportunity to get back on the bike on Tuesday night where I understand the intention is to field a full first team squad. (If we've got xi standing)

Ok, perhaps some more constructrive comments required from me after last night. I think yesterday the defense was poor. We looked very shaky for large parts, and thats disappointing, because we normally have such a solid defensive foundation to work around in a game. The passing was poor from the two full backs, especially Macca. Gothard was good, making the few saves required, as despite our defensive frailties Folkestone didnt create much. But theyre allowed an off day, theyve been excellent all season.

The midfield was fairly unproductive. Hunters passing was poor, Game didnt impress much, and Dormer didnt look comfortable out on the left. Gallagher was good, delivery was almost always good.

Cousins had another poor day im afraid, hardly got anywhere, and Elder couldnt produce much ( i think we missed Ross tbh), however i will put this down to the absolutely shocking service they received.

RIght i think thats everyone, rant over. Oh and the ref was crap, left his cards at home.

Ok, so lets just call it a blip, look forward to progress in two cup competitions, and hope we get a chance to catch up Yeading later in the season.

Somebody mentioned we had 17 corners in the first half alone. They had one and scored from it. Lets face it, it was a piss-poor performance and it showed up a few frailties that we have when we have a few injuries. Can't afford any more days like these if we want to catch Yeading.

Don't often add my thoughts as I only see about half the games these days, not being able to make Tuesday matches. But I thought we deserved a fair bit of credit for our performance. Without making excuses, the wind and the poor pitch certainly didn't help and we were slow out of the blocks whilst Folkestone took full advantage of their familiar surroundings to score that soft goal. But the lads quickly adapted and camped in their half the rest of the first period, showing a never say die attitude that continued well into the second half, only running out of ideas around ten mins from the end. Justin obv felt our lack of fit first team bodies meant that no-one on our hugely inexperienced subs bench would make a difference, except in case of injury, and I wouldn't argue with that. Just cannot believe we didn't score at some point, somehow - oh well, you can't win/not-lose them all !
