I assume that is Graeme Carrick, Michael's brother. So that was the famous name you were talking about!!

Just got back from the match at Langney Sports - now known as Eastbourne Borough - they did not deserve to lose.

There was a gale blowing downfield in the first half and Urchins were facing it - Micky Desborough had a lot to do, as they could hardly get the ball over the half way line. First goal was a header from a free kick - slack marking in defence.

Second goal, almost on half time, was a penalty - no complaints with the penalty, but the sending off was ridiculous - was the referee influenced by the (very biassed) crowd, I wonder. There were three Urchins players all going for the ball, and yes, there was a shirt tug - it might have merited a booking, but with the crowd howling their heads off, the red card was flashed - Cousins was not the last player.

The wind died down a bit in the second half, and Carrick scored a brilliant goal - he really looked top class, a sort of younger and faster version of Steve West.

Eastbourne scored with a break away goal, with Hornchurch all piling on the pressure upfield, and then Shipp scored with a thunderous free kick from well outside the area, and from a very difficult arngle.

Ziggy went close, so did Shipp, and a great dummy by Carrick gave Ziggy another chance.

Carrick was replaced by Maynard - no idea why, he was completely dominant up front, and Doublas and Tomlinson came on - Tomlinson certainly added something to the attack, especially on the right with his corner kicks.

Player of the match for me was Desborough for his first half showing, with Shipp and Carrick not far behind.

Eastbourne scored in the second minute of stoppage time - in total there were nine minutes added on in the secon half.

The result was more than a bit unfair to Hornchurch, but the sending off made all the difference.

The Dartford Bridge was closed on the way up, which necessitated a massive detour via Blackwall in order to get there.

just back myself, very good summary dagger04.

yet again the urchins have been let down by weak refereeing. he also missed a handball in the penalty area whilst hx were 2-1 down - the fella jumped up for a header with both arms in the air and knocked it with the left - play on says mr no testicles.

it was different earlier in the season - we were getting nothing from the referees, but still had the overwhelming class in the squad to pull off 6-0 wins. nowadays a shoite ref costs points.

carrick shocked me - in the first half, he didnt look like he wanted to even play for the famous hornchurch, but throughout the 2nd half looked willing to die to get an equaliser.

oh, and thanks to everyone sat in the stand for the relentless ribbing i received as i hobbled past...

oh, and yes yellow, carrick is the name we were talking about <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Yes, he did miss it, but, to be fair to the referee, the linesman had his flag up already as the ball was coming over - the handball came after the flag went up. Not too sure what the linesman was flagging for, but there was an icy gale blowing down the pitch, and he might have been warming his arms up.
