Family Club

After reading all of the posts on here over the last couple of days, I have to say I don't like to see people who we all know have the love of the club at the forefront of there mind not getting on. I don't ever think forums should be a place for a personal attack on certain individuals that support the club (OK I did have a pop at Lee Elam but that was different I am allowed haha). IMO NTRSW has done a lot of good for this club and for a guy who I did not know very well 3/4 months ago I now know him quite well and I know how much this club means to him.

 

I have been at this club longer than anybody else on this forum and nobody can deny that well not that I know of anyway. I have played for the club, I have worked for the club and I have always supported the club through the very bad times, the very good times and the indifferent times, I have seen managers come and go. Dave Cox, Mick Marsden,George Borg and now Garry Hill, I have seen chairman come and go Brian,Tony Wallace,Gary Calder.

I also saw the coming of Karl whom at first I never got on with and he knows that as well as I do but I gained respect for what he tried to achieve at our football club and I admire the vision and the drive he had to try and fulfill his dream.

 

Over the 11 years I have been associated at this club the one thing that is definite is the support has increased 10/15 fold, but lets not get on the back of supporters who were not there in the past lets encourage those that are now the heartbeat of the fanbase and look to build again.

 

In football one thing is always certain success always brings fans to the club. 2 examples are when Newcastle (who are widely described as the best fans in the land) were not in the top division and struggling they had gates of 14,000 at home, now in the Premiership they sell out 52,000 every week. Grays at the start of this season had 200 at home most weeks, on New Years Day against Thurrock they had 1,250, so what I am trying to say is the new supporters have come to our club because of success and lets not now slag them off lets look to keep them here for the long term.

Agree with all your comments VOR.I've been closely associated with this club as player and supporter since '81 and am impressed with the progress it has made especially in the last few years. I think we need to now focus on keeping things moving forward and although not forget how we got here but just look and plan for the future.

As I watched the events of last night unfold, my most prominent question was 'where has all this venom come from?'

 

Urchinette clearly took exception to some of the things NTRSW and others said. IMO players like scotty and lockey should not be slated. They're still here, while many others are not, but that is beside the point.

 

Hopefully everyone now knows where they stand now. I for one understand better the situation of the club's ownership, which has been speculated about.

 

Arguing and finger-pointing are of no benefit to the club. We must all keep supporting the club and wait and see what the future holds with reguards to possible takeovers etc. We must keep doing all we can to help the club. That is absolute priority.

 

Can't really say much more than that, I'm not here to preach.

Couldn't agree more re crowds bring success. Brought this up myself a few weeks ago on here re Newcastle as a prime example (HornchurchMag had a dig at me 4 that, wonder why...)
