Naughty Violent canvey teenage yobbos

Recommended Posts

Taken from a post from them bizarre norway billericay supporters (surely supporting rosenberg can't be that depressing)

I'm afraid that Canvey Island is not especially popular with norwegians after an episode this weekend, which is on the frontpages of several norwegian newspapers today.

Parents and club officials from the Canvey Island team in the youth soccer tournament Dana Cup in Denmark, attacked some norwegian youth players at the school they where staying at during the tournament. The Canvey Island officials was armed with sticks and beat one norwegian youth player so bad that he was unconscious.

If the team are going to be expelled from the tournament is unclear, but they were moved to another school. It's not sure yet if the norwegian are going to press charges.

The reason for the beating was an argument with boys from Canvey Island and another norwegian team earlier the same day, but the guys who were beaten up, where not from that team, so they were completely innocent.

Players from Canvey Island also attacked another norwegian team earlier the same day, apparently without any reason. Don't know why they doesn't like us norwegians? Could be beacuse Canvey Iland don't have any norwegian supporters club? Well, beating us up aint the best way to get any either!

Anyway, using sticks to beat up 16 years old boys because of an argument is completely sick!

It's rather a shame that the facts have not been displayed in the original quote made by Per-Helge.

It say's nothing about the Norwegians trashing the toilets and nothing about these sweet innocent 16 (going on 26) year olds, shooting air gun pellets at our 12 and 13 year olds. I personally know nothing about any Norwegian actually being hit, but I had to take a gun away from them so that they did not shoot my son and his friends again. We showed the marks these pellets made to the school caretakers and asked for the police to be called but they refused and said they'd ask them not to shoot our boys in future.

This is not the half of it, but I won't waste my time putting it all down on paper just yet. Suffice to say, there's two sides to every story and it helps when people stick to using the facts.

reluctance to respond to the full and very damaging claim is understandable

But somebody should make a full and comprehensive response (or apology)

having a laugh about "young men will be young men" is one issue but when the "charges" include viscious physical assault then an official member of the party must respond in a comprehensive manner

There is an inference that youngsters were attacked and badly beaten

why?

by who?

who was responsible for managing on both sides?

I have no doubt Ian McK is correct in his facts but feel equally certain he is wrong in delaying a full and comprehensive response a late response never carries weight of conviction

What needs to be said next does and will indeed, need to be more comprehensive. That's for the boys Manager and the club to do and I believe the club have insigated a formal internal investigation accordingly.

My point and the reason for posting my original note is:

Don't judge people or their actions until you have heard the facts. It's a simple rule that's lasted many hundreds of years and seems to have worked so far.

I didn't clump or see anyone clump anybody with a stick or other, but I must say, when you see your son and his friends frightened by substantially bigger boys (men more like) - shot at (at least six of them many times over) - I couldn't with any honesty put my hand on my heart and say I didn't feel like it.

Someone was hit, but the persons involved have their own reasons and explanations which will be put to the club.

Let the club do it's investigation and when it's over I'll gladly cut and paste my written statement of the events, on this board for all to see.

Sorry, I forgot to include this in my posting:

If anybody's interested in how well the boys did and how they were an absolute credit to canvey Island Football Club, please read on.

Canvey U13's boys played in 5 tournaments before going to Denmark and walked away with 3 winners and 2 runner-up trophies.

They were paired against the tournament favourites (Ghana team - part of the Ajax academy) and a very good Swedish team who went on to win the "B" cup by a mile.

We beat a Norwegian team in the opening game 5-0 and low and behold, they came to support us throughout the remainder of the competition - making a Canvey Island banner and sporting England shirts - making us the most neturally supported team in the tournament.

They had nothing but respect and admiration for the way in which we played football and preached fair play to the boys. They witnessed our boys being bitten (yes Bitten) elbowed, kicked on and off the ball, shirt being pulled etc etc. without retaliation or losing our principles. Not bad I think for a bunch of yobbos.

The boys won the group and received a trophy for their efforts. We went on to lose in the quarter finals to a freak goal and some questionable referreeing decisions to a competent team from Finland. the highlights of our quest for glory were undoubtedly the 2-1 win of the team from Ghana and the 1-0 win over the Russians (also associated to a pro club Locomotive Moscow)

Two totally different games where we had to beat the class of the eventual winners Ghana, with sheer hard work and commitment and Russia with not getting involved in the nasty parts of football and concentrating on playing our own game in the right way.

When all the other non-football related issues are sorted out, don't forget the efforts of our boys and be proud of them as much as we who were fortunate to be there were.
