For those of you who missed the joy of Thame V Swindon...

Matt had a decent game looked lively up front, Had a goal disallowed, and had a lob which bounced 5 yards in front of goal and went over.

He looked like the kind of player we need at the moment...

Also as Gary pointed out Slough Fans = more than 10% of the attendance... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/icon_band222.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/icon_band222.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/icon_band222.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/icon_band222.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/rockon.gif" alt="" />

14 Slough fans present in a crowd of about 120.

Awful game, poor service to the Milfer, but as MK says, he managed to get on the end of a few chances (on camera). Thame looked pretty bad, and Swindon Supermarine (who won 1-0) didn't look much better.

Bloody hell. First, I miss my first game since December 2003 because of New Year's hangover and location and then I can't get to Thame because the bloody car breaks down. No proper football since the 23rd. Unacceptable. Now looking forward to Braintree.

But having said that I could have picked worse games to miss by the sound of it.....

Match report from the Thame Utd website:

United 'sunk' by Swindon Supermarine. Thame United lost their second game of 2005 on Monday when they were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Swindon Supermarine.

The first half was a scrappy affair. Mickey Channon, and Justin Merrit both squandered good chances for Thame. Swindon has two shots on target but goalkeeper Smith did enough to keep the scores even at half time. The best first half chance fell to Swindon when, in the 44th minute defender, Roger Emms met a corner with a header which skimmed the Thame crossbar.

United dominated the first 25 minutes of the second half and were unlucky not to go ahead in the 58th minute when Matt Miller met on a Gavin lane through ball and lobbed the advancing goalkeeper. With the goal undefended the ball bounced in front of goal and then frustratingly, bounced over the crossbar. Swindon fought back and went ahead on 74th minute when a right to left ball split the Thame defence, before being knocked back, eventually falling to Mark Draycott, who finished coolly from 6 yards. Thame’s Matt Miller found the back of the net four minutes later, but his goal was puzzlingly disallowed, presumably for a foul on the Swindon goalkeeper. Despite bring on Jon Mitchell (for Mickey Channon), and Nando Perna (for Mark Jones) United were unable to salvage a point.

Although unlucky to lose, United failed to take advantage of the few chances that they created. Matt Miller, who is on loan from Slough Town until 20th January, had a good game but must have been frustrated by the lack of support from his team-mates.
