Under the new Public Processions Act organisers of parades and demonstrations will have to give 28 clays notice of their intention to hold a public procession. Organisers of protest meetings will have to give 14 days notice of their intentions. Notification is given to the police on a standard form who then forward the information to the Parades Commission.

Looks like we have to give 14 days notice to the police first then.

Will this be too late I wonder. Anyway I am going for it but need a date mutually agreed by the majority of when we should do this, taking into account these 14 days.We are looking at around the 20th january at the earliest taking into account the setting up of all this, together with agreeing a date.

Please give me an indication of when it be best for most of you to do this. Which day of the week are you available. Look up your diaries and rosters and let me know when you are available and with the majority of dates I will try and get this sorted.Or do we just do so on a council meeting night in which case we all have to make the effort to get there. Am stiill worried that this might be a little late in the day though so please give me your dates that you are available. We want a BIG turnout, not just 5 or 6 people turning up.

If you all think that this may be too long to wait,or a wasted demo then please tell me. What are your opinions on this then? The sooner I get some info from you the quicker I can make the notification to the police and get this under way.

I am willing to set this in motion but I need input to put it together. Cheers guys.

Lets hope we have a positive answer before then or that we dont get a negative one by the time its sorted. Opinions, dates and feedback required please.

Have contacted the police and am doing the nessasary paperwork today.Do we want to make a show in the evening or during the daytime? Or both on the date of the 20th. Daytime for the vast public and council staff or evening mainly just for the council big wigs or both. Which would get this message across to the bigger audience and which would be more help our cause more if at all it does. Before I hand in the paperwork I would also like to know which or both we should apply for.

Am going for the 20th provided we are still at loggerheads with the council that is. Help me fellas!

a)Daytime- office hours

b)Evening- Council Cabinet members)

c)Both

Need to know today or tomorrow at the latest.

we need to wait till after tomorrow, if still nothing go for it, it would be nice to have a word from MISA or MFC on this. As soon as its go time, we need to contact as many people as possible. That means friends, family, workmates, everyone to get there, and newspapers, radio, TV, websites for press, if we're gonna go for it we have to really go for it and can't let it fall flat on its face

If it gets the o.k. from the police John and I see now reason why it wont be passed, and providing we are still in talks and news of a ground or worse isn't given, then yes,we MUST get this right on all matters for the 20th. All must start spreading the word NOW. We want a massive turn-out for this.Once the o.k. has been passed NO-ONE can then stop it,by law.

Got your drift John. You are saying "Wait until we see what happens tomorrow when the council resume". We wont be demonstrating until the 20th anyway so whatever comes out unless its good news(wont hold my breath) wont affect that day. We really should have got this underway a lot lot earlier. Hindsight eh? Mind you if we get BAD news then will it be worth doing the demo?. May still be possible to get something out of it I suppose.

when you manage to arrange a demo why dont you announce it on the conf south forum. im sure fans of other clubs would be willing to come down and show their support.
