Crawley Home Game

Recommended Posts

We just needed that bit of luck today, or that bit of composure in front of goal - Great bit of skill by Drury only to waste it by blazing over the bar for instance.

Moussa performed well, but that final ball was missing.

Still, I suppose we need to look at the positives - a clean sheet - and no real clear cut chances for Crawley, other than the defensive mix up which saw their forward somehow hit the top of the bar, when it seemed easier to score. All their other efforts were long range shots, the first of which didnt come until 10 minutes into the second half.

Pullen played well and Bunse looked very solid at the back. He could be a useful signing.

Drury again turned on the style aprt from his miss.

prothers played well again, agree drury was unlucky with that shot, horrendous miss, but You have to say that lately he has been playing some excellent stuff.

At times we were playing good football which is nice to see, maybe we are slowly turning the corner.

pullen was good again, some nice saves.

bunse looked handy in the air and was unlucky with his header.SO so close to a win, (when god, when)

At the end of the day, the sooner we pick up a win, the sooner we get back on track. I think its as simple as that.

The things that could of changed our season, is the luck of not picking up a win earlier, for example, Farnborough at Home, if we would of gone on to win it, could of sparked off some good form.

But the best example, the last minute today, off the post. Very unlucky, and if they go in, you will find us moving up the table very quickly.

Pullen showed the difference between Wilko and himself today in the first half. Totally commited when coming out and blocking the attacking players shot. I can't help feeling that if that had been Wilko it would have either been a case of coming halfway and then changing his mind or coming out and getting the player rather than the ball.

New signing, Bunce looked impressive.

Drury played well (!) - a rather sublime 1-2 in the first half and some other well played passes at times, although a few wasted chances as the end product of his efforts. Though he still needs to learn that when cornered by 2 of the oppositiions players, it is unlikely that fancy footwork will get him away with the ball.

The biggest concern for me today was the body language of Essandoh. It looked all wrong. Gone was the spring in his jumping, the desire to chase the ball rather muted. So much so that it was somewhat of a surprise that McAllister was substituted rather than Roy.

Overall, to mock the words of Crawley a few days ago, I thought that we gave them 'a nil-nil thrashing'.

Thought MaAllister had a splendid game. Ran himself into the ground, and chased "no hope" balls into the box that nearly paid off, and not once bottled out of a challenge.

Pinns looked good as well when he came on, giving Andy at least a few forward options.

I suspect Manny may fell a little miffed, as he is probably 4th choice behind Roy, Craig and Pinns.

I see the Accrington manager made a similar statement in his moaning rant, saying they should have blown teams like us away! Although I did like him saying Pops thought he was Alan Hansen!

Lol!

Also i noticed in that article a thing that has popped up a few time before. I often seem to see that our Andy Drury is often refered to as 'Adam' Drury. Obviously its not the hardest mistake u can make.

Any way i know this is a pointless post its jus sumin i noticed!

Neways lets hope we continue in our good form and win our next game!

Up Da Fleet!

Yea i no, but the way we have been playing recently deserves beta reading on the table, however lady luck is not always our side.

Also like sed before, we r in good form in a way as we r undefeated in 3 and have 1 clean sheet!!

Thats the first time I've seen us keep a clean sheet in the Conference EVER!!!!!!!

I missed the York game and my only over Conference game prior to this season was the first game after our promotion, against Dagenham which we lost 2-1. Hurray for a second there I was starting to think it had something to do with me but I don't belive in bad/good luck charms.

Aah, but isn't Manny injured at present? On the evidence of recent games when he has been available, I'd say he's still above Pinns in the pecking order simply because he seems to get more starts.

Pleasing to get a clean sheet today - a great reward for Pullen after some impressive displays recently, including today. Particularly impressive, as mentioned elsewhere, was his tip-over from that shot which took a wicked looping deflection of Davidson. There were a couple of other fine saves diving to his right too.

Nice to see Moussa more involved today, as often the service isn't there. Not quite at his best, of course, with the final ball sometimes lacking, but perhaps an encouraging sign.

Overall, we had the better of both halves, and so, for once on this long run of games without a win, we could say we should really have won. Hitting the post twice was unfortunate, but it has to be mentioned that the closest we came was via Dolan, whose miskick seemed to strike Smith in the face - I can't imagine he knew much about that save.

I probably don't really need to say it, but I will anyway - next week's game is a biggie. In theory, a great chance to pick up three points at last, but complacency must be avoided. Of course, if we do fail to win at Leigh, part of me will start to wonder where the next league win is going to come from, despite our improving performances over Christmas and New Year.

So close to making my first scorer prediction right <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Quite pleased with today's(well yesterday now..) perfomance, looked pretty solid at the back with Pullen and the new defender playing well. I heard on radio kent he only met the other players when he turned up to the match today so to be thrown into the thick of it like that and perform in the way he did-very impressive. A little disapointed with our forward play, just lacking a killer touch, and a bit of luck! Hopefully we'll get a bit more luck, get a win,bit more confidence and then the decent football should start flowing again...hopefully...
