Billericay 2 Maldon Town 1

Great game from the town, Paul Fewings and Mark Graham the goalscorers. Maldon took a very undeserved lead in the first half, but town showed their class with two brilliantly worked goals in the second half. <img src="/forums/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />

Match report now online.

I thought we looked solid defensively, although Maldon didn't really put us under much pressure. Paul Fewings looked a lot sharper than against Boston and played about an hour. Scott Forrester showed some good touches when he came on and Nicky Simpson and Richard Graham both did well.

phew what a scorcher!!!

well whether it was richard browne or graham we should sign him up cos he was our best player especially when he stayed out wide..got a bit lost in traffic when in the middle.elsewhere thought a fair early season performance against an average side..im sure my granddad pitched up for them at left back in the second half. Just to please my old mucker gazza id have to say anything other than a riccay win would have been

oooohhh unlucky!!!!

Billericay were a completly different side in the second half. If the second half team started, then it would be a cricket score.

Im not going to be able to see the match on Tues because I have to take my girlfriend to the cinema! Next match for me is the Spurs Match. How many Billericay expecting, and will the ticket office be open during the day? if you know the answer, please let moi non!

How can your girlfriend prefer a visit to the cinema to BTFC v Gravesend? <img src="/forums/images/icons/confused.gif" alt="" />

The Tottenham game will not be all ticket - it is a Tottenham XI which means they probably won't be sending a first team. Last season they sent a youth team and it was a very good game which finished 2-2

I dunno. I wasn't totally convinced of the overall performances, not because of anything else but the team was in pre season transition and therefore prone to miss hit passes, miss timed runs and "getting used to" playing a certain style with new players.

Talk of winning the league and "what a top performance" only goes to show that some of us are a little too easy to please. Lets keep a level head here. The season hasn't started, we're a club in transition and friendlies only serve to get the team playing together, players match fit and to try out new players and tactics.

If this was a competative game, 2-1 would flatter Maldon.

I don't think anybody is talking about winning the league just yet, pre season games are invariably a bad guide to what is to follow. Last season we didn't win a single psf then went on to win 5 in a row when the serious stuff started. What has been encouraging so far is that the new players, in particular on Saturday Fewings, Kerrigan, Graham and Mcdonald have settled into the team quickly and all will bring something new to the side. A front pairing of Fewings and Baker, with Richard or Nicky joining Carthy in the midfield with Kerrigan and Mark Graham supplying the crosses has the potential for a lot of goals. I have a few reservations about the defense, would like to see Rantala back in there (I understand he had a slight groin niggle on saturday).

Quote from jl on the Gravesend post.

"by the way with ref to some of the messages on the site i think its a bit rich to write personal things about people when u havent even got the bottle to put your own name to it <img src="/forums/images/icons/mad.gif" alt="" />"

Personally, you should ask those who are involved if it bothers you that much but as jl said...you just havent got the bottle.
