FLEET SIGN EXPERIENCED CENTRE HALF

With Paul McCarthy sustaining a broken nose against Accrington Stanley and Lee Shearer having left the club, Andy Ford has moved swiftly to get a new centre half in. Nathan Bunce aged 29 has signed from Weymouth and is available for selection for the New Years day game against Crawley.

Nathan's career began at Hayes and he had two spells with Stevenage and one with Farnborough before joining Weymouth.

Looked just what Andy was looking for - a solid, no nonsence centre half of the "old school", but also composed on the ball and supportive of the defenders around him.

It was good to see him applauding Pops and give him a couple of encouraging slaps on the shoulder, Pops has great potential, and will no doubt benefit from playing alongside Bunce and McCarthy.

Thought we defended very well as a unit today in horrible conditions, swirling wind. skiddy pitch and steady drizzle.

Pullen's handling was superb, plus a couple of brave punches and 2 or 3 really good saves to boot. Even his kicking worked!!

Prothers never stopped running for 90 mins, sending some good crosses from which we were unlucky not to score.

Big well done to Dukebox today, another great game.

The one minus point - the rumour around where I was standing was that Dukebox is thinking about leaving. I hope it's not true, but if a Football League side made a good offer, we have no real right to stand in his way, as with the right coaching, he could become another Jimmy Bullard, premiership bound.

Nathan Bunce played well today imo, it was hard to tell it was his first game as he fitted in so well. Also i liked the way he was telling the players wat to do as it seemed like he knew wat he was on about! Also liking the way he gives players praise, hopefully building up some confidence which we need desperatly.

Up Da Fleet!
