Tv's Worlds Strongest Man.

As a fan of the competition Worlds Strongest Man, the only prog on the Tv worth watching over Christmas.

 

I usually love the prog, the new format has killed it for me, previous years, 6 heats of 6 men the winning 2 from each heat go through to the final.

 

This year just 12 men for all 6 days, competing one on one against each other, now surely this is open to fixing, instead of being the fastest time, for everyone, one man can be up against a man who can lift 2 barrels, so only needs 3, in the next heat, you see someone lift 5 against 6, the man who lifts 2 more than the other guy, gets less points. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

 

Each man will have an event he is particually weak at, the taller men, struggle with the Beer Barrells. Where they crouch and lift.

 

BBC, put Worlds Strongest Man, back to how it was.

Totally agree, Mark, You have no idea what's going on now, and only see a few of the guys whilst they are in with a chance. The new version is rubbish. Let's go on the BBC Website and say so!

I suppose it is the fascination of somebody like me (5ft 3 7/8ths ins on a good day) seeing the weights that these guys can pick up - it amazes me that discs don't collapse or arms get torn out of sockets.

 

I think the other thing is that they pick up real objects like motorbikes and haul lorries, instead of boring anonymous weights on bars.

I would agree with you Andrew, towing a lorry, train or whatever. Carrying two Motorbikes whilst walking at speed.

 

It is impressive.

I think one of them works for the anti-Hooliganism branch of a baltic state police force. Wouldn't step out of line with something like that patrolling the terraces
