Pullen or Wilko??

I agree with Richard C, Pullen is the better keeper however he has a very bad kick. Just yesterday alone he presented them woth great opportunities. If the player the ball fell to in this situation had a better touch and controled it or our players didnt save him by tackling them we could of lost quite eaasily.

Another thing i noticed about Pullen is that he is quite slow at getting back into his goal!

Overall prefer Pullen! Well maybe if we had the same defence weak in weak out that will stop us leaking goals.

Up Da Fleet!

But Pullen's kicking was head and shoulders above Wilko's up until the last two games, when he seems to have had Wilko's boots on!

Exactly - before the Crawley and Accy games, there was little wrong with his kicking, which makes his performances in the last two games a bit confusing. Personally, like with the centre-backs, I don't think there's that much between Pullen and Wilko - which is perhaps a worry, since the one that isn't in the team may start looking for a move away - although I certainly hope not.

On the subject of 'keepers, credit goes to Crichton for his solid performance yesterday. There was plenty of barracking for him behind the goal after his antics when playing for York, but his kicking was pretty much faultless and he made some fine saves (e.g. from Saunders' effort just outside the box in the second half).

I agree with Jeff above

Wilko was fine - very strong and good on crosses etc and one of the best kickers we've had at the Fleet.

Pullen is also fine apart from his crap kicking

Really the keeper was the last of our worries - behind Shearer and Mooro last season Wilko was superb. However, Fordy has wrecked the back four getting rid of Shearer ("mutual consent" as stated in the Reporter today - MY [****!!****]!).

The money that "EEHAW McArthy" (as he's already been nicknamed), is allegedly on, is scandalous and as for "pussy foot Popovic", opposition strikers are going to have a field day - when is Fordy going to learn "if its not broke - don't fix it !"

We needed an extra striker to back up Manny and Roy but McAllister doesn't seem to have the belly for a fight and looked lightweight against Accrington even though he's a big lad.

Anyway lets hope our good fortune continues and we get some points on Saturday

Come on Boysssssssssss

Wilko was not one of the best kickers we've had. That was his main problem.

Pullen's kicking has only been crap for two games. Before that it was better than Wilko's.

And McAllister looked pretty good in his first two games, but had a quieter game on Tuesday. If you can judge he hasn't the belly for a fight on that evidence, you're doing well.

Pullen is a good quality keeper.... with a future, possibly higher than our level. I saw him while he was on loan at Welling and was impressed by his distribution above all else.

Wilko would have been a league player, except for his bloody awful kicking! (in my opinion.)

I don't believe we have had a problem as far as our keepers go, for several years now.

Our back four is playing with no confidence whatsoever. Even David Blunkett could see that. That said, I wouldn't dismiss Pop and McCarthy, just yet. I think quality (and experience) will shine through.

McAllister, reckon he IS a class act. He found himself in several good goalscoring positions, lack of match practice seems to be his downfall at the moment.

Wilko can't kick ?

Yuoi must be joking - he hits the oppositions box at will !

And as for McAllister check out his ability to hold a ball up without getting out-muscled by a defender on Saturday - then let us know your judgement

Againgst Accy he was knocked off the ball almost every time he got it.

True or not, I'll gladly take the two important goals he's netted for us already. And he wasn't exactly 'out-muscled' for the opener at Crawley, was he?

They are both good keepers. If I had to choose it would be Wilko purely on loyalty. Hes been around a while and done little wrong. Whichever the important thing is to be able to organise and 'get on' with the defence given. Keepers fine defence looks shaky right now.

...Wilko's distribution IS poor. He either kicks too long straight to the other keeper or off the park 7 out of 10 attempts....but Pullen is even worse and he can't keep getting away with those low kicks from backpasses that 50% of the time go to the oppo. Sooner or later it will cost us a goal. On that basis alone I think Wilko should come back tomorrow.

Aaargh!

We seem to be going round in circles here. As Stu M has already indicated, it's only in the last couple of games that Pullen's kicking has looked dodgy. On that basis, it's hard to tell whether this is going to be a long-standing problem or not as of yet.
