Accy game

Great atmosphere between the two sets of fans - good to see.

Awfully scrappy affair between two sets of players - bad to see.

Thought we were thoroughly lucky to get a point today. Disappointing to see so many of our team (not naming names) not giving 100% effort -Macca excluded from this as my MOTM.

I'm not going on a rant about how much so-and-so needs to be dropped or why wotchamacallit is clearly the wrong choice or whochamaflip needs to be shot - but it's clear to me that the team as a whole appears to be lacking severly in confidence, cohesion and effort.

We need stability - Proths, McCarthy, Popovic, Skinner/Jackson must be the umpteenth combination we've had this year in defence alone and our strikeforce also seems undecided. No wonder we leak goals and generally seem unable to score too.

I don't pretend to know what the answer is...but singing for Shearer is certainly not one of them, neither is: bemoaning Drury; questioning McCarthy's wages nor calling for the head of Andy Ford.

Let's get behind the lads against Crawley and end this frustrating run of games. It's beginning to bore me now.

PS It was bloody cold today wasn't it?

Thought Drury had another decent game - he still has the frustrating habit of trying to beat 1 player too many at times, but his attitude cant really be questioned in my view.

Overall, I think its fair to say that many of the team fall into the same situation - most are trying, but quite simply confidence has gone and players arent prepared to put their foot on the ball and take responsibility. I think back to that programme about the England team, and the psycological analysis that was done and see similar issues with our players - we need to overcome the fear of losing and think more positively again.

Whilst McAllister may not be the star we might have hoped for, I thought it great to see his attitude when the penalty went in - grabbing the ball to get it back for a restart - loan players sometimres dont give it their all, but he certainly wanted to be playing for us today.

2 sloppy goals conceded and, had that 3rd gone in rather than hitting the post, we would almost certainly have been dead and buried. Mid you, their marking was dreadful for our first as well.

She was in the centre stand and seemed to be doing an interview with one of the Stanley Directors.

As for the game, I thought Drury only came into the game when Skins was injured and Drury moved to the left. I hope Andy gives Pop a good kick up the [****!!****] for fannying around with the ball and giving possesion away on a couple of occasions.

It wasn't a brilliant game but it was certainly exciting. A draw was the least we deserved.

I agree with all the above posts, unsure about the penalty, but hey better for it to go our way for once!

Quite annoyed with some off the accy players, discraceful displays of diving and over acting. Also one thing which annoyed me was when Pop was on the floor holding his head and the ball went for a throw, accy's number 18 McEvilly threw the ball at pop then carried on playing. Discraceful, wheres the sportsmanship!?

Also Helen was doing an interview with Phil "The Power" Taylor!

Hells Bells was interviewing Phil Taylor (Darts Champ) during the first half. Presume they shot off over to Purfleet, at half time. Maybe it will be screened on her Allsports show on Friday.

Thought we did well to get a draw and was deserved. Accy were not a good team as many others who have visited Stonebridge Rd this season and can't understand why we can't beat any of them. The league this year, imo, is not as strong as people make it out to be. Had we maintained our form etc.., we could have been riding high at the top. Maybe today will give us a bit more of a confidence boost and get a win against Crawley.

Also, too many long balls again today, could have beaten them if kept on the deck and played simple football.

Very scrappy game and so frustrating that we conceede sloppy goals and can't seem to get that elusive victory. The first goal that Accy scored was a mistake by McCarthy as far as I could see. He went for the header and but it went over his head and dropped behind him for their striker to tuck it away. And their second was obviously a mistake by Jacko. Defence overall still looked shaky in the first half I thought and really needs less changing from match to match.

And by the way for those unaware, Lee Shearer was chatting to the drummer and a few others. That's why his name was being chanted. Sounds like he's not going to be hanging around for much longer.

Yes, Jacko's first half performance was certainly a concern, particularly when he switched to left-back and Jagielka consistently had the beating of him (e.g. for the shot against the post which possibly could have sealed it).

Just got back... Phil Taylor was in the same hotel as the accy team and directors.. the directors invited him to the game and he accepted.. then she came along with camera crew and stopped until half time... should hopefully have some pics of them both online later tonight <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

...Pop is too risky. Mooro instead for Saturday. There is a place to play football and it is not on the edge of your own box. I would bring Wilko back in for the Crawley game too.

I thought Drury did very well especially second half. I hope this is not the end of Jacko but first half he was very poor.

All in all a good second half effort from all to get a deserved point, but if they had not hit the post first half and gone 3 -1 up...!?

Yeah true, but still normally when a player from your team or the other team is injured you quick the ball out so they can get treatment. So i just felt that what he did was not very god sportsmanship, even thought its not against the rules... Also pop had a head injury and the game should of been stopped straight away.
