Yep - the pitch is supposed to be OK which is strange. Must say I think it was stupid to make it a 12.00pm KO (agree with Woody sadly ) as in a few hours i'm sure it would be OK. We had this problem at Wexham Park a few years ago on Boxing day - so why did we not learn???

Not too much wrong with the pitch IMO. The covered terracing down the side had about a foot of frozen grass on the pitch, but was only going to decrease. The afternoon was only going to get warmer as well which mystifies the decision further. I know Roy M wasn't best pleased with the decision and it's baffled me to be honest.

problem with kicking off at 3 is it gets cold later surely? maybe one would've been better, but didn't look like there was much wrong with the pitch - especially with the sun beaming down on it for another 45 mins till KO.....does any other cynical soul think windsor maybe had a slight hand in the game being called off?

We arrived just after it had been called off and had a peek over the fence by the far set of turnstiles. From what we could see the pitch looked fine apart from the patch Gary was mentioning which surely would have been clear by 12:00. Seems a very poor decision when a big crowd was expected and as Matt says the game will now be played midweek with a sh*t crowd. Very angry as from what I saw this game should definately have gone ahead. Just before we arrived I said that surely they will be doing everything they can to get a game on Boxing Day when everyone has come down for some entertainment to go ahead. Obviously the ref or whoever called it off has no respect for the fans who came to watch the game. Very poor show indeed. And why could we not get hold of anyone at the club to find out what was happening?

Agree with Radders. No way this should have been called off. Took a chance and travelled to Stag Meadow. Paid and entered at 1055. Was advised to keep hold of ticket as ref was concerned about frosty patch on far side (length of pitch opposite main stand). The entire playing area looked absolutely fine with no frost. On close inspection the only area affected by frost was that between the fencing and the touchline on that far side as it was still in shadow. So, at worse, the lino on that side may have been concerned about slipping over in the early part of the game and making a t*t of himself in front of a (potentially) big crowd. At 1110 heard someone mention in the bar that the game was off. Shutters came down and everyone disappeared! Finished beer, got refund, got fed up... now watching cricket instead... a poor substitute in deed...

Pitch looked fine when we got there (albeit a little late ).

Ground was bathed in warm(-ish) sunshine - and completely deserted

At least we weren't the only ones who had a wasted journey...

Grrrrr...

...must remember to check forum beforehand in future....

IMO an example of the pettiness and arrogant attitude of lower-ranking officials, attempting to con the paying public into thinking they've got some rare insight into the game which the rest of us don't have.

The common-sense approach - either just getting on with the game on the basis that any remaining frost would have disappeared by kickoff like all the rest had done, or delaying the start for half an hour - clearly didn't enter their heads. To hell with all you people who've been looking forward to the game and in many cases organised your day around it or travelled here. I'm the ref and I'm The Fact Controller as far as you're concerned, go back to your little homes, you wouldn't understand.

Pah.
