Would have gone to Thurrock but unfortunately I don't drive so have to rely on coach travel or public transport to get to away matches.

Thurrock is impossible to get to by public transport and unfortunately I couldn't persuade enough of our coach party to take a detour via the Hotel. If the game had been at Grays then I could have got there by train. Even better if HX had been at home as it's a quick stroll to Dagenham East tube and a couple of stops on the District Line.

Can't make Braintree today as I'm visiting relatives. We are at home tomorrow to Woking so seeing as there are no Ryman or Conf South games tomorrow if anybody fancies watching a game then you're welcome to come to the Lane. It's a 3pm kick off.

We went to the Purfleet v Grays match yesterday - one side of the pitch was partly frozen. Crowd given at 853. Purfleet had chances to have built up a good lead - Kandol (inside left) missed two great chances. Grays went ahead with a softish goal - the ball seemed to bobble under the keeper. Gleen Poole levelled for Purfleet, who missed a couple more chance before the interval. Grays were not at all impressive, apart from Ashley Bayes in goal who kept them in the game. Matthews did not play. Martin came on at half time, and played on the left of the midfield (it used to be called left half).

Steve West, who had done next to nothing, scored with a good header, and then Martin scored an excellent goal, and then West scored with a hard shot from outside the area. Kandol pulled one back just before the end. Not a bad game, and though Grays improved a lot in the second half, they were only kept in the game by some good goalkeeping. Jamie Stuart played well, West was disappointing, despite his two goals, Martin looked good at times.
