Margate Football Club

I am blaming the council for not trying to get this through. They have not helped in any way whatsoever. They continually find fault, delay and generally make out its the fault of the club.We know better. If they had wanted to help, really help and get us back home they would have sorted this out long ago and would have done their utmost to do just that. This latest episode is the final proof that they are intent on blocking us.All papers and submissions were valid but then they find fault again. Its just delay after delay

after delay. Fault after fault after fault.Their whole imput and how they have come to their decisions need looking into. Maybe this time with the threat of the ombudsman this will now come about. No other project, locally, has had to endure as much as this one has.

Already one company connected with this scheme has gone to the wall. Add in Keith Piper's, er, colourful background and the fact that football clubs in general do not have the best of reputations for financial prudence and what does anyone expect?

Gone to football matches, paid their entrance fees, stuck by the club even against a council who refuse to play ball. Continue not to concede defeat. There isn't much else we can do. Oh and by the way a large majority of them post on here as registered.

Having just returned from spending Christmas with my in laws in Margate (including a trip to Westwood....note NOT Westwood CROSS as that is just a incomplete shopping centre) I feel save saying what a lifeless bleak areathe place is. It looks like an industrial area with metal boxes and the old Haine Hospital site could pass as an airport with empty roads.

But hey ho it beats having a town centre messing up Margate and Ramsgate.

As for the locals around Hartsdown Park most of them struggled putting any Christmas decorations in their windows. Sure sign they think the area is dying.

well done frankie im glad you escaped its the last place you get to before u fall off the cliff its a total deadend mate

What a stupid comment everywhere has its faults remember many of us on this forum live in the area.
I live 5mins down the road in minnis bay which is a beautiful area with a fantastic beach.
I trust you will not be coming back to Margate if we ever get the ground built as the place is so clearly beneath you.
Wouldnt want you to fall of the cliff <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Margate is a tip and now a dead loss area and the once popular seasonal attractions are now gone. People will not come back here like they used to,unless a football match brings them here. Minnis bay is no-where near our town and therefore it dosen't come into the argument.

Benjammin, Minnis Bay is probably very nice but that is due to NATURE not as a result of Thanet Council's planning schemes.

Why build on open green built land at Westwood whilst your main towns are left without shops and contain more boarded up properties than businesses?

Why allow you most famous attraction to close without a whimper and also allow the same person convert well known hotels into flats?

Why let a white elephant through planning whilst the cost of it (for ratepayers)is now 3 times higher than 2 years ago?

Why give the land over free for the white elephant without realising the new owners (another local government organisation)will sell on half of the site at a large profit?

Why continously block a privately funded project despite gaining the new buildings at no cost to themselves unless it is a personal vendetta or their are other plans for the site?
